Raaka makers Sun Pictures have released a cryptic new teaser for the Allu Arjun and Atlee sci-fi epic, promising a “global triumph” just a day after a mysterious “37” post sent fans into a decoding frenzy. The 16-second clip carries no footage from the film, only text that reads: “Beyond what seemed possible. We dared to imagine. We dared to achieve. Raaka: A global triumph.” The teaser offers no explanation of how this “global triumph” connects to the earlier “37” clue, keeping the film’s marketing firmly built on controlled mystery.
The 37 Clue That Started the Speculation
A day before the “global triumph” video, Sun Pictures shared a poster on September 17, 2026 featuring nothing but the number 37 against a dark, smoky background, with the word RAAKA written in gold beneath it. No caption, no explanation — just the number and the film’s logo. The lack of context immediately triggered a wave of fan theories across social media.
The most popular theory connects 37 to director Atlee‘s birthday on September 21. Fans on X broke the number down as 3 × 7 = 21, suggesting the makers are building toward a major reveal timed to the director’s birthday. Several reports indicate that a making-of video featuring key technicians from the film is expected to drop on the evening of September 20, just before Atlee‘s birthday, which would line up neatly with the theory. However, Sun Pictures has not confirmed this.
Other theories have also gained traction. Some fans believe the number hints at Allu Arjun playing multiple roles in the film. Others speculate it could be a title clue, a character detail, or even a release-date hint disguised as a countdown. A section of the fanbase has linked it to the film’s release window, though estimates vary between late 2027 and early 2028 due to the film’s massive scale.
Allu Arjun’s Multiple Roles and Dual Timelines
Reports suggest Allu Arjun could portray four different characters in Raaka — a grandfather, a father, and two sons. There is also speculation that the story could explore the concept of two parallel universes. The film is said to unfold across two timelines: a tribal, Puranic-Vedic era and a modern-day setting.
Deepika Padukone, Janhvi Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna are expected to feature in the historical portion, while Mrunal Thakur is reportedly set to lead the modern-day narrative. In the film’s Puranic Vedic era, Deepika Padukone reportedly portrays a pregnant woman fighting for survival, whose arc intersects directly with Rashmika Mandanna‘s character, who functions as a guide and protector. Janhvi Kapoor essays a tribal queen operating as a key authority figure in the ancient timeline.
The makers have not officially confirmed any of these casting details beyond Deepika Padukone as the female lead.
Rashmika Mandanna Resumes Shooting in Mumbai
Rashmika Mandanna has resumed shooting for Raaka in Mumbai after taking a medical break following a hip injury sustained during the filming of Mysaa. The actress returned to the sets on September 15, with her initial stint being brief while her full-fledged schedule is expected to begin in October.
Rashmika was originally scheduled to join Raaka in August, but production plans were changed after her injury. With her recovery now complete, she is set to reunite with Allu Arjun for several important sequences. The duo’s collaboration has generated considerable interest following their successful pairing in the Pushpa franchise. Karan Mehta has also joined the film and has already started filming his portions.
The film features a major ensemble including Deepika Padukone, Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, Ramya Krishnan, Jim Sarbh, and Yogi Babu.
Will Smith Antagonist Rumors and the Global Star Tease
The “global triumph” teaser has revived speculation about Will Smith joining the cast. In August, Mid-Day reported that the Hollywood star had been approached to play the primary antagonist opposite Allu Arjun. According to the report, discussions had been underway for around a year, with the makers working around Smith‘s availability for an overseas schedule. The report also claimed that his costumes had been finalised, although the overseas shooting location was yet to be locked.
A source told Mid-Day: “Will Smith’s dates are being worked out. The overseas location will be locked depending on his availability. His costumes have been finalised, and there is immense excitement in the crew for the next leg.” If the Hollywood star joins Raaka, it would add another international name to a project already generating significant buzz. However, the makers have not officially confirmed his casting.
The Scale and Budget of Raaka
Raaka is reportedly being made on a budget of over ₹1,000 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever mounted. The film is being conceived as a two-part franchise, following the successful two-part release model of Ranveer Singh‘s Dhurandhar. Discussions around splitting the film into two parts are said to be underway among the film’s core team, though Atlee is still exploring how the story might best be structured.
The film is being produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures. The VFX is being handled by top Hollywood studios, including Legacy Effects, Fractured FX, Spectral Motion, Lola VFX, and ILM Technoprops. James Madigan has joined the project as VFX supervisor. The music is being composed by Sai Abhyankkar, who has shared that the team is collaborating with foreign singers and lyricists to create an international-standard album.
Allu Arjun and Atlee visited leading VFX studios in Los Angeles, including Ironhead Studio, and engaged with technicians like Jose Fernandez and James Madigan in the film’s first promotional video. Technicians associated with Hollywood projects such as Iron Man 2 and Transformers described the script as “unlike anything I’ve ever read.”

Production Timeline and Release Plans
Production on Raaka is expected to continue into early 2027, with a late 2027 or early 2028 theatrical release currently planned. Deepika Padukone is racing to wrap her portions before her maternity break, with reports indicating she will return in January 2027 to complete remaining work. The film is expected to be wrapped up by the first quarter of 2027.
Allu Arjun is set to move on to Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s tentatively titled AA23 (LK07) after completing Raaka, with shooting expected to begin in December 2026. The film will feature music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his first collaboration with Allu Arjun.
Raaka marks Allu Arjun‘s first collaboration with Atlee and remains one of the most closely guarded projects in Indian cinema. Despite the flurry of casting details and timeline reveals, the central riddle of the campaign remains unsolved. For now, Sun Pictures has kept the exact meaning behind “a global triumph” and its connection to the “37” hint firmly under wraps.
“Raaka isn’t just a film… it’s a part of me I’ve carried for years. For 18 years, I held on to one idea, never letting it fade. It tested me, shaped me, and stayed with me through everything. And honestly… this is just the beginning.” — Atlee, director
“Sun Pictures is privileged to bring together the singular storytelling of Atlee and the iconic stature of Allu Arjun in a project built for the world.” — Sun Pictures statement
