The ongoing public disagreement between comedians Samay Raina and Sunil Pal has taken a new turn. Sunil Pal recently told the paparazzi in Mumbai that he was offered Rs 25 lakh to appear on the second season of India’s Got Latent. He said he turned down the offer because he did not want to use abusive language on the show. However, Samay Raina quickly responded and called the whole claim “fake news”.
The back-and-forth between the two comedians has been going on for more than a year. Their fight started when Sunil Pal strongly criticised the first season of India’s Got Latent for its use of explicit language. The show, which streams on YouTube and Netflix, has become very popular among younger viewers but has also faced a lot of criticism for its content.
Sunil Pal’s Claim About the Rs 25 Lakh Offer
Sunil Pal spoke to the paparazzi in Mumbai on Thursday. He said that Samay Raina had personally asked him to be a part of India’s Got Latent 2. According to Pal, the offer included a payment of Rs 25 lakh. He claimed that he refused the offer because he was not comfortable with the show’s style of humour, which often includes abusive language.
During the interaction, Pal recalled the conversation he allegedly had with Raina. He said:
“Usne baat ki toh Rs 25 lakh dene ki, lekin maine kaha, ‘Main gaali nahi dunga.’ Usne kaha, ‘Aap mat dena, lekin baaki sab toh…’”
This translates to: “He talked about giving Rs 25 lakh, but I said, ‘I will not abuse.’ He said, ‘You don’t give, but everyone else will…’”
Pal made it clear that his decision was based on his principles. He did not want to participate in a show that promotes vulgar language, even if others on the show were comfortable with it.
Samay Raina’s Response: ‘Fake News’
Hours after Sunil Pal’s statement went viral, Samay Raina responded. He took to his Instagram Stories on Friday evening and rejected the claim. Raina shared a screenshot of a news report about Pal’s statement and wrote “Fake news” along with several laughing emojis. He also added a question: “Sunil Pal ko ₹25 lakh?” which means “Sunil Pal gets ₹25 lakh?”.
Raina’s response was short and direct. He did not give a long explanation but made it clear that he never made such an offer. His reaction suggests that he finds the claim amusing and completely untrue.
Sunil Pal Also Took a Dig at Alia Bhatt
During his conversation with the paparazzi, Sunil Pal also made a comment about actress Alia Bhatt. The paparazzi pointed out that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, who appeared on the first episode of India’s Got Latent 2 to promote their film Alpha, did not use any abusive language on the show.
Pal was not impressed by this. He responded with a sarcastic remark:
“Jahaan jahaan hai Alia, wahaan wahaan hai gaaliyan, baja do taaliyan, warna sapne mein aayega Vijay Mallya.”
This means: “Wherever there is Alia, there are abuses. Clap, or else Vijay Mallya will come in your dreams.”
This comment added another layer to the controversy. Pal seems to be suggesting that Alia Bhatt’s presence on the show is somehow linked to the use of abusive language, even though she did not use any herself.
The Background of the Feud Between Samay Raina and Sunil Pal
The disagreement between Samay Raina and Sunil Pal is not new. It started in 2025 when the first season of India’s Got Latent was released on YouTube. Sunil Pal was very critical of the show’s content. He said that the comedians on the show were not real stand-up comedians and that their language was vulgar.
At that time, Pal told IANS:
“Do not call them stand-up comedians. That would be an insult to real stand-up comedy. They are uneducated individuals who should be treated like terrorists.”
He also criticised the organisers of such shows, saying that they were promoting obscenity instead of meaningful messages.
Samay Raina responded to these comments during his stand-up special Still Alive. He called Sunil Pal “insecure” and “frustrated”. Raina also reminded Pal that Kapil Sharma had messaged him to say he loved the show, suggesting that even established comedians appreciated his work.
The ‘Brush Joke’ That Reignited the Fight
The feud between the two comedians became active again during the premiere of India’s Got Latent Season 2. Samay Raina brought back his famous “aap brush kyun nahi karte?” (why don’t you brush?) joke, which he had previously made about Sunil Pal.
Sunil Pal did not take this lightly. He responded with a sharp comeback in a video. He said:
“Bhai, main brush nahi karta hoon tune aisa mujhe bola tha na? Par Samay Raina tu toh brush karta hai, tere muh se itni gandagi kyun nikalti hai bhai?”
This translates to: “Brother, you told me I don’t brush, right? But Samay Raina, you do brush, so why does so much filth come out of your mouth?”
This exchange showed that the tension between the two comedians was still very much alive.
Appearance Together on Kapil Sharma’s Show
Earlier this year, Sunil Pal and Samay Raina appeared together on an episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix. Even during this appearance, they continued to take digs at each other. The segment was built around their public feud, and they exchanged barbed but humorous remarks.
