MGM+ has confirmed that the hit horror series From will return for a fifth season, which will also be its last. The show, which has become the most-watched series in the network’s history, is set to conclude its story in 2027.
The renewal announcement came in April 2026, just days before the fourth season premiered. The creators and network have confirmed that the upcoming season will bring the story to its planned end. Production is scheduled to start later in 2026 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where the series has been filmed since its beginning.
The show follows residents trapped in a nightmarish town that no one can leave. After dark, deadly creatures roam the streets, and the town’s supernatural forces continue to test the survivors in increasingly strange ways.
When Will Season 5 Release on MGM+
MGM+ has not set a specific release date for the final season. Based on the production timeline, Season 5 is expected to premiere sometime in 2027.
The network announced the renewal in April 2026, confirming that the writers’ room is already working on the final episodes. Filming is expected to begin in the summer of 2026 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and continue through late 2026.
For viewers outside the United States, the show will be available through the same distribution channels as previous seasons. MGM+ is the home for the series in the US, while international audiences can watch through Paramount Global Content Distribution partners.
The final season will consist of 13 episodes, matching the episode count of earlier seasons.
Why Season 5 Is the Last Season of From
The decision to end the series with Season 5 was not made lightly. Creator John Griffin and the creative team had always planned for a five-season story arc.
In interviews, Griffin explained that they considered making a sixth season but chose to end the story at its natural conclusion. He said continuing the series would have been driven by their attachment to the show rather than the story itself.
“Five seasons was always the goal, but we always wanted to let the story tell us when it was time to end.” – John Griffin, Creator and Executive Producer
The team has mapped out the ending from the beginning, with executive producer Jack Bender confirming that Season 5 will pay off storylines set up in the very first episode.
What Happened in the Season 4 Finale
The Season 4 finale, which aired on June 28, 2026, set up major storylines for the final season. The episode titled “If a Tree Falls in the Forest” delivered several shocking twists.
Jade and Tabitha became trapped beneath the Bottle Tree after uncovering mysterious bones. The group had been working to dig out the sacrificed children, leading to this moment. Mari and Elgin were both killed during separate encounters.
Fatima completed her transformation into one of the Creatures to help Boyd, Jade, and Tabitha escape from danger. Victor survived a confrontation with his father Henry, leaving his storyline open for the final season.
The most alarming development came from Sophia. After encountering the Boy in White, she stole all of the town’s protective talismans and threw them into the Farway Tree. This leaves the residents completely vulnerable to the creatures that come out at night.
What to Expect From the Final Season
The creators have promised that Season 5 will answer the show’s biggest mysteries. In a Reddit AMA with fans, John Griffin and Jeff Pinkner confirmed that the ending has always been planned and that many answers lie in the very first episode.
The final season will focus on three central storylines: the role of the Man in Yellow, the figure of the Boy in White, and the logic behind escaping the town. Julie‘s time-travel storyline, which was introduced in previous seasons, will also be fully explained.
The creators also confirmed that Eloise, Victor’s sister, is truly dead and will not return. Victor’s journey in Season 5 will focus on accepting that his family is gone. A major reveal from the AMA showed that Clara secretly made a deal with the Man in Yellow long before the Matthews family arrived in Fromville.
The executive producers also revealed that Jade, Tabitha, Miranda, and Victor are the only ones connected to the original souls, which explains their strange visions and supernatural experiences.
“The ending will be the ending we initially imagined. Details of how we get there have changed during the creative process, but we will eventually get to the ending that we have always intended.” – John Griffin and Jeff Pinkner
