Prabhas fans will have to hold their excitement a little longer. Fauzi, the period war drama directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, will not arrive in theatres on its previously locked date of December 3, 2026. The film’s producer, Y Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers, confirmed the delay during a public event, explaining that the team needs extra time to finish the project properly.
Producer Ravi Shankar Confirms Fauzi Delay at The Paradise Event
The confirmation came on September 21, 2026, at the pre-release event of Nani’s upcoming film The Paradise. Speaking to the audience, Ravi Shankar addressed the delay directly and apologised for the change in plans.
“Fauzi is being pushed back a little bit, but it’s a next-level movie. You haven’t seen brother Prabhas look so grand since Baahubali. It’s a movie of that scale. However, small sorry that we are pushing it back a bit. You will cherish it for a lifetime. It’s such a massive and great movie.”
The producer also described the film as the greatest project for Prabhas since the Baahubali franchise, telling fans that the extra time will be used to deliver a memorable theatrical experience.
Why Fauzi Was Delayed
The delay has been linked to several production factors. Reports indicate that the film’s extensive visual effects work, pending post-production tasks, and the complex demands of recreating its period setting all contributed to the decision. Sources close to the production shared that the team is rechecking filmed sequences and working on corrections to ensure the final product meets expectations.
A visa issue involving a key actor based in London also reportedly held up certain portions of the shoot, including material intended for the film’s teaser.

Fauzi is set in the 1940s during pre-Independence India and World War II. Prabhas plays a soldier in Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Fauj, leading a lone battalion fighting for freedom and honour. The story explores themes of bravery, sacrifice, and destiny, drawing inspiration from hidden chapters of Indian history.
Director Hanu Raghavapudi, known for the critically praised Sita Ramam, has described the film as an emotionally driven cinematic spectacle where large-scale action meets compelling storytelling.

The film features a strong ensemble cast. Imanvi Esmail makes her debut as the female lead opposite Prabhas. Veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Jaya Prada, and Chaitra J Achar play important roles.
The technical team includes cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee, music composer Vishal Chandrasekhar, and editor Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni, Y Ravi Shankar, and Bhushan Kumar, with Mythri Movie Makers backing the project and T-Series Films presenting it.
Massive Budget and Two-Part Plans
Fauzi is reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 600 crore, making it one of the most expensive Telugu films ever produced. There have also been reports that the film could be split into two parts, with the second installment serving as a prequel.
The makers previously announced the release date on July 16, 2026, alongside a blood-soaked poster showing Prabhas as a battle-hardened soldier sitting amidst fallen soldiers on a battlefield. The poster carried the tagline, “A Battalion Who Fights Alone”.
Fan Reactions to the Delay
The postponement has sparked disappointment among Prabhas fans who were looking forward to the December release. Fan frustration had already been building in the months leading up to the announcement, with hashtags like #GiveUsFauziUpdateASAP trending earlier in June 2026 as fans demanded release date confirmation.
A report noted that the announcement at The Paradise event left fans feeling upset, though the producer’s promise of a grand film offered some reassurance.
Possible New Release Window
A new release date has not been officially announced yet. Industry reports suggest the film may target a 2027 release, with January 26, 2027, being discussed as a possible window, especially considering the film’s pre-Independence theme. Other reports mention March 2027 or a summer 2027 slot as possibilities.
