Ted Lasso is officially coming back for a fourth season on Apple TV+. After the third season wrapped up in 2023 and many thought the story had ended, the show returns with a fresh direction. Jason Sudeikis reprises his role as the optimistic American coach, but this time he faces a completely new challenge.
The new season will have 10 episodes and follows a weekly release pattern. The premiere is set for August 5, 2026, with the finale scheduled for October 7, 2026. Apple TV+ confirmed the return in a press release on April 28, 2026.

What the New Season Is About
Season 4 picks up after the events of the third season. At the end of Season 3, Ted left England and returned to Kansas to be with his son Henry. The new season explains why he comes back to Richmond.
This time, Ted is not coaching the AFC Richmond men’s team. He takes on a new role as the coach of a second division women’s football team. The idea for a women’s team was first mentioned in Season 3 when Keeley proposed the plan to Rebecca. That proposal now becomes the main story for Season 4.
The official synopsis from Apple TV+ says:
“In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
The season explores themes of risk-taking and growth. Ted must build a new team from scratch while dealing with the challenges of coaching women’s sports. The trailer shows Ted facing criticism from a fan who questions his decision to coach a women’s team, but Ted remains unfazed.
Returning Cast Members
Most of the main cast from previous seasons are returning for Season 4.
Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso and also serves as an executive producer. Hannah Waddingham is back as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. Juno Temple returns as publicist Keeley Jones. Brett Goldstein reprises his role as Roy Kent. Brendan Hunt returns as Coach Beard. Jeremy Swift is back as Leslie Higgins, the director of football operations.
New Cast Members and Recasting
Season 4 introduces several new faces to the series.
Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education) joins the cast as a new assistant coach working alongside Ted. Jude Mack (Back in Action) and Faye Marsay (Andor) are also part of the new season. Other new additions include Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern.
There is one notable recasting for Season 4. Grant Feely, who played young Luke Skywalker in Obi-Wan Kenobi, takes over the role of Henry Lasso, Ted’s son. The role was previously played by Gus Turner in Seasons 1 through 3. Reports suggest the recasting happened because Henry’s character will be a skilled football player in the new season, and the show needed an actor with those specific skills.
Where to Watch
Ted Lasso Season 4 will stream exclusively on Apple TV+ worldwide. The first three seasons are also available on the platform for new viewers who want to catch up before the new season begins.
A subscription to Apple TV+ is required to watch the show. The service is available on smart TVs, streaming devices, and mobile phones.
Behind the Scenes
Production for Season 4 began in July 2025. Filming started in Kansas City, which is Sudeikis’s hometown, before moving to London. The cast was spotted shooting scenes in Richmond in July 2026.
The season adds Jack Burditt as an executive producer under a new deal with Apple TV. Bill Lawrence continues to executive produce through his company Doozer Productions. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Joe Kelly, and Brendan Hunt.
Apple TV+ released a teaser trailer on April 28, 2026, giving fans a first look at the new season. The trailer shows Ted back in his signature blue outfit, coaching a group of women alongside Coach Beard.

What to Expect
The shift to a women’s team marks a significant change for the series. While Roy Kent continues to manage the men’s team, Ted applies his optimistic coaching style to build a completely new squad. The season deals with the challenges female athletes face in sports and how they are often underestimated.
Some original characters from the men’s team may have reduced roles or may not appear as regularly. Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) and Nick Mohammed (Nate Shelley) are not listed on the primary billing, though cameo appearances remain possible.
Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres on August 5, 2026, with new episodes every Wednesday until the finale on October 7, 2026. All episodes stream exclusively on Apple TV+.
