Marvel Studios is putting together its new X-Men team, and Kit Connor is the latest name attached to the project. The Heartstopper star is reportedly set to play Scott Summers, the mutant hero better known as Cyclops, in the upcoming X-Men reboot directed by Jake Schreier.
The 22-year-old British actor joins a growing list of actors linked to Marvel’s mutant revival. Sadie Sink has already joined the MCU as Jean Grey, and Samara Weaving is reportedly playing Emma Frost. Connor’s reported casting adds another key piece to the puzzle as Marvel builds its new generation of X-Men for the big screen.
Marvel Picks Kit Connor After Multiple Auditions
According to reports from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios selected Connor for the Cyclops role after meeting with several candidates. Director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reportedly met with a number of actors before narrowing down their choice for Scott Summers.
Sources indicate that Connor became the studio’s top pick last week following a series of meetings and auditions. A small group of actors reportedly tested for various X-Men roles after the July 4 holiday. Marvel representatives have not officially commented on the casting, and Connor’s team has also stayed quiet on the matter.
Connor’s reported move into the Marvel universe comes after his breakout role as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s coming-of-age series Heartstopper. He has since expanded his career with roles in Alex Garland’s war drama Warfare and is attached to the upcoming Elden Ring adaptation. He also won a Children’s and Family Emmy Award for his performance in Heartstopper.
Who Is Cyclops in the X-Men Universe
Scott Summers, known as Cyclops, is one of the most recognizable characters in the X-Men franchise. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in 1963’s The X-Men comic.
Cyclops serves as the disciplined field leader of the mutant team. His mutant ability allows him to release powerful energy beams from his eyes. X-Men Reboot Cast Takes Shape With Young Stars

Jake Schreier Directs Marvel’s First Major X-Men Film
Jake Schreier, who directed Marvel’s Thunderbolts, is attached to direct the X-Men reboot. The film marks Marvel Studios’ first major attempt to bring the full X-Men team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after years of Fox-led adaptations.
The screenplay is being co-written by Lee Sung Jin, creator of Beef, and Joanna Calo, who worked on The Bear. The project has been in development since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox’s entertainment assets in 2019.
