Nawazuddin Siddiqui became the latest celebrity to face Samay Raina‘s unfiltered roasting style on India’s Got Latent Season 2. The comedian did not hold back while questioning the actor’s decision to star in the 2025 horror-comedy Thamma, asking bluntly why he chose to be part of a film that received largely negative reviews. The episode, which dropped on September 19, 2026, also featured Bhuvan Bam, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, and comedian Kaustubh Agarwal on the panel.
Samay Raina Questions Nawazuddins Thamma Role
The roasting began shortly after Nawazuddin Siddiqui joined the panel. Samay Raina started by thanking the actor for appearing on the show, expressing genuine admiration for his body of work. The tone shifted quickly when Raina turned to the actor and asked, “Sir, Thamma kyun ki thi yaar? Thamma kyun banayi yaar aapne?” which translates to asking why he starred in and made the film.
Nawazuddin, who appeared momentarily surprised that the film was being brought up, recovered with a calm response. He said, “Thamma? Haan theek hai. Ban gayi, ban gayi,” meaning the film was simply made and completed. Samay followed up by asking whether he was permitted to make such comments, to which the actor replied, “Now that you’ve already said it, what can I say?”
The exchange continued later in the episode when Samay asked Nawazuddin to help a contestant learn how to act and propose to a girl. The comedian asked, “You know how to act, right?” Nawazuddin replied, “Yeah, I can act.” Samay immediately brought up Thamma again, asking, “So, what went wrong with Thamma?” The actor laughed and joked, “Come on, man. I will act like I did in Thamma then.” Samay quickly responded, “No, not the Thamma one, please.”
A Look Back at Thamma
Thamma hit theatres on October 21, 2025, timed for the Diwali festive season. The supernatural horror-comedy was directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under the Maddock Films banner. The film starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, with Paresh Rawal and Faisal Malik in pivotal supporting parts. Special appearances were made by Varun Dhawan, Abhishek Banerjee, Nora Fatehi, and Malaika Arora.
The story followed Ayushmann Khurrana‘s character Alok, a Delhi-based journalist who accidentally enters a hidden world of vampires. He encounters the mysterious Tadaka, played by Rashmika Mandanna, and a terrifying vampire ruler named Yakshasan, portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film is the fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which also includes Stree, Stree 2, Munjya, and Bhediya.
Despite carrying a reported budget of approximately Rs 125 crore, Thamma received mixed to negative critical reception. The film earned approximately Rs 187 crore worldwide at the box office, with a domestic net collection of around Rs 134 crore. The movie began streaming on Prime Video on December 16, 2025, across more than 200 countries and territories.
The Sacred Games Joke That Followed
Samay Raina also brought up Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s acclaimed work in the series Sacred Games during the episode. Praising the show, Samay joked about the actor’s character and the adult themes of the series, saying, “Sacred Games was amazing. Genuinely. Everyone loves Sacred Games. In that one, Nawaz sir did drugs, drank alcohol, slept with prostitutes, and then he showed up on set.”
Nawazuddin responded in the same playful spirit, quipping, “Yahan pe bhi waisi hi tayaari karke aya hoon mai,” which means he came prepared in the same manner for this appearance as well. The moment drew laughter from the panel and the live audience.
Samay then issued a playful warning to the actor, saying, “Please choose your words wisely. People in this seat have said some outrageous things.” This remark appeared to reference Ranveer Allahbadia, who had previously occupied a similar position on the show during an episode that sparked major controversy in 2025.

The latest episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2 also featured Mukesh Chhabra facing his share of jokes from Samay Raina. The comedian roasted the casting director over his work on Dhurandhar, joking that he had cast Ranveer Singh in the film after misinterpreting the title. Mukesh took the jokes in good humour, even joking about his girlfriend’s reaction to the remarks.
Samay Raina‘s comedy show returned for its second season in June 2026, a year after it became involved in legal controversy over remarks and language used on the programme. The show now premieres on both YouTube and Netflix and has continued to draw attention for its star-studded panels and unfiltered humour. Season 2 has so far welcomed guests including Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Medha Shankr, Varun Dhawan, Archana Puran Singh, Rakhi Sawant, Vishal Dadlani, Raghu Ram, and Orry, among others.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui also shared during the episode that while he has not watched India’s Got Latent, his daughter Shora Siddiqui follows the show. On the work front, the actor was last seen in the indie drama Main Actor Nahin Hoon and has resumed shooting for Tumbbad 2 in Satara. He also recently completed a run of his stage play Naqaab in the United States.
