Lorre told Deadline the team wants to finish all scripts before cameras roll, repeating the approach that worked for Season 1.
Co-creator Zak Penn promised a faster turnaround than some fans might fear. “It’s not going to be like two years between seasons,” Penn said. “It’s going to come out next year”. Lorre also hopes to return to Comic-Con with finished episodes, possibly two, to build buzz ahead of the HBO debut. Season 2 will likely consist of 10 episodes, matching the first season’s count.

The core cast is all coming back. Kevin Sussman returns as Stuart Bloom, Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert Kibbler, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke. Supporting players like Ryan Cartwright (Kyle), Josh Brener (Trevor), and Tommy Walker (Gary) are also expected to appear in new versions of themselves.
Season 1 featured guest turns from Mayim Bialik, Melissa Rauch, Kunal Nayyar, and Kaley Cuoco. Lorre confirmed that bringing back more original cast members remains a core goal. “We’re certainly going to try,” he said. Prady echoed that sentiment, noting he enjoyed “finding small parts and recurring those people as well”.
When asked whether Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), or Simon Helberg (Howard) might appear as alternate versions of their characters, Prady gave a simple answer: “Tune in next season”. Lorre kept the door open too. “There’s always a chance. We’re not going to limit ourselves as to cameos”.
