Global superstar Jackson Wang is set to release his highly personal new album, MAGICMAN 2, on July 18, 2025. The GOT7 member recently shared deep reflections on his identity, struggles, and creative process in an exclusive interview.
The album marks a turning point in Wang’s career as he steps away from expectations to explore his true self. He revealed that MAGICMAN 2 is his most honest work yet, born from a year of self-reflection and emotional healing.
“Am I who you guys think I, Jackson Wang, am? Or am I me? Or am I who I think I am?” Wang questioned during the interview. He admitted to facing a mental breakdown before taking a break to rediscover himself.
MAGICMAN 2 follows his 2022 album MAGIC MAN, which introduced a darker alter ego. This sequel dives deeper into themes of grief, self-acceptance, and emotional recovery. The album is structured in four chapters, each representing a stage of his personal journey.
Wang described the album as a raw expression of his diary entries. “I started writing diaries and just really thought about what I want to say as a person,” he said. The tracks reflect his struggles with fame, identity, and mental health.
The first single, “High Alone”, released on February 12, 2025, sets the tone for the album. Its music video depicts Wang drowning while an audience watches, symbolizing the pressures of fame. Another track, “BUCK”, features Indian singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, blending global sounds with personal storytelling.
Fans have eagerly awaited this release, especially after Wang’s successful MAGIC MAN WORLD TOUR 2023 and historic Coachella performances. His openness about mental health has resonated deeply with listeners worldwide.
Wang also hinted at a future world tour, expressing a strong desire to perform in India again. “If there’s any opportunity, I’ll be there. Even if it’s just three people in the crowd, I’ll give it my all,” he said.
With 11 tracks, including “Hate to Love”, “GBAD”, and “Made Me a Man”, the album promises a mix of emotional depth and bold experimentation. Pre-orders are available on his official website, with special edition vinyl and CD versions.
