Leonardo DiCaprio was briefly stopped and searched by police while trying to enter an exclusive party in Ibiza, Spain, on August 13, 2025. The Oscar-winning actor was not immediately recognized by officers, who conducted routine security checks on all guests. The incident was caught on video and quickly went viral, showing DiCaprio calmly complying with the search.
Why Leonardo DiCaprio Was Stopped by Police
The security check happened at a private party hosted by tequila brand Patrón and Spanish actor-singer Arón Piper. Police officers were checking every attendee before allowing them inside. A source told Page Six,
“Every single person was patted down and ID’d. It’s funny, they did a double take and then he went in!”
DiCaprio was dressed in a black T-shirt, pants, and a baseball cap, blending in with the crowd. His low-key outfit likely contributed to the officers not recognizing him at first. His girlfriend, Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, and friends Joel Edgerton and Christine Centenera were also searched before entering.
Other Celebrities at the Party
The event had a star-studded guest list, including DiCaprio’s longtime friend Tobey Maguire and model Kendall Jenner. However, rapper Travis Scott was reportedly denied entry for unclear reasons.
DiCaprio’s Recent Vacation in Ibiza
DiCaprio and Ceretti have been vacationing in Ibiza for weeks. Earlier in August, they were spotted on Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ mega-yacht. The couple also attended Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Venice, Italy, in June.
How DiCaprio Reacted to the Viral Video
Witnesses said DiCaprio was “kind and joking” with the police during the search. In the background of the video, a woman—believed to be Ceretti—can be heard saying,
“They are searching me full-on right now.”
Despite his fame, DiCaprio remained patient and cooperative, which fans found amusing.
DiCaprio’s Upcoming Projects
The actor is preparing for his next film, One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The action thriller, set to release on September 26, 2025, also stars Sean Penn, Regina Hall, and Benicio del Toro.
Ceretti’s Thoughts on Being Called “DiCaprio’s Girlfriend”
In a March 2025 interview with Vogue France, Ceretti expressed frustration over being labeled only as DiCaprio’s partner. She said,
“As soon as you’re in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become ‘girlfriend of’—and that can be extremely annoying.”
She added that she dislikes being reduced to just her relationship status.
DiCaprio’s Thoughts on Turning 50
In a recent GQ interview, DiCaprio reflected on aging, saying he now values honesty and not wasting time. He mentioned his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken, as an inspiration for speaking her mind.
“You just don’t want to waste your time anymore. You have to be much more upfront.”
He also admitted his biggest career regret was turning down the lead role in Boogie Nights, which later went to Mark Wahlberg.
