Jack Reacher is coming back, and fans finally know when they can expect to see the big guy in action again. Alan Ritchson has confirmed that ‘Reacher’ Season 4 will arrive in late 2026, following the completion of filming in November 2025. The popular Prime Video series, based on Lee Child’s bestselling novels, is currently in post-production.

The show’s fourth season was renewed in October 2024, months before Season 3 even premiered in February 2025 . Amazon Prime Video showed major confidence in the franchise, ordering new episodes well in advance. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, called the series “a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations” in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter at the time of the renewal .

Production Timeline Points to Late 2026 Release

Filming for ‘Reacher’ Season 4 began in the summer of 2025 and officially wrapped in November 2025 . A production team member shared the news on Instagram, posting, “Looks like Reacher season 4 has officially wrapped! It’s been a long run. Great work to all the cast and crew. Thank you so much Alan” .

With cameras now off, the series has moved into post-production. According to Lee Child, who serves as an executive producer on the show, the scripts were completed well before filming started. “It’s written and it’s ready to go,” Child told TechRadar in February 2025. “It’s going to start shooting in the summer” .

Industry trackers like The Futon Critic list the show as returning in 2026, though an exact premiere date has not been announced . Newsweek reports that with post-production currently underway, a release in late 2026 is the most likely scenario .

Season 4 Will Adapt ‘Gone Tomorrow’ With a Location Change

‘Reacher’ Season 4 will adapt Lee Child’s 2009 novel, Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in the Jack Reacher series . The story follows Reacher on a New York City subway at 2 a.m. when he notices a woman displaying classic signs of a suicide bomber. The encounter ends in violence, pulling Reacher into a complex web involving the Pentagon, political assassins, and powerful military figures.

The official logline from Amazon reads: “When a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a train goes horribly wrong, Jack Reacher is drawn into a complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power” .

However, the series is making one key change from the source material. While Gone Tomorrow is set in New York City, production has relocated to Philadelphia. Behind-the-scenes images showed Ritchson holding a red hat reading “Philadelphia” and ordering a Philly cheesesteak from a street vendor . Newsweek confirmed this creative decision, noting the setting shift from NYC to Philly .

Alan Ritchson announced the book choice on Instagram in June 2025, confirming fans would see the Gone Tomorrow story unfold . The season will consist of eight episodes, following the pattern of previous seasons .

Alan Ritchson Teases More Fights Than Ever

Ritchson has been sharing updates throughout production, and his descriptions suggest Season 4 will be the most action-packed yet. In a December 2025 interview with Collider, the actor revealed the intense pace of filming.

“It’s a gauntlet,” Ritchson said. “I mean, it’s just a labyrinth of fights. We shot 11 fights in the first four weeks, and we’ve never shot anything close to that pace. Everywhere Reacher turns, he’s got another group on his heels” .

He continued, “It’s fun, wild, and nonstop, and we haven’t done anything like it yet. Usually, by the end of the day, it’s a sweet mixture of both fake and real blood” .

Earlier reports suggested the season would feature around 30 fights, which would be a significant increase from previous seasons. Ritchson had expressed concern that audiences might grow tired of so many brawls, telling ScreenRant in November 2025, “We’ve never shot this many fights. There’s so many” .

In an August 2025 Instagram post, Ritchson teased a particular fight scene, writing, “Game face was all the way on today. We might’ve just shot the best fight ever on Reacher and that’s saying something, cause every fight prior this season felt the same way. Season 4 goes hard” .

Full Cast Announced With One Key Replacement

Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher, and he’s joined by an entirely new cast of characters, which is standard for the series since Reacher drifts from town to town. Maria Sten, who plays Reacher’s friend Frances Neagley, has appeared in all three previous seasons, though it’s unclear if she will appear in Season 4 as she prepares for her own spinoff series.

The new cast members for Season 4 include :

  • Sydelle Noel (Glow) as Detective Tamara Green, a New York Police Department homicide detective and Reacher’s love interest
  • Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette (Barry) as Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman
  • Kevin Corrigan (Grounded for Life) as Detective Docherty
  • Kevin Weisman (Alias) as Russell Plum
  • Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as John Samson
  • Kathleen Robertson (Murder in the First) as Elsbeth Samson
  • Agnez Mo as Lila Hoth
  • Anggun as Amisha Hoth

The casting process saw one notable change. Jay Baruchel (How to Train Your Dragon) was originally cast as Jacob Merrick but was forced to exit the production shortly after his announcement due to a personal matter . Deadline reported that Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette stepped in to take over the role .

Sydelle Noel’s character, Tamara Green, is based on Theresa Lee from the Gone Tomorrow novel. In the book, she works alongside Reacher to investigate a high-stakes case in New York City. For the series, the character has been renamed, and she’s paired with her NYPD partner Docherty while getting drawn into Reacher’s orbit both professionally and personally .

Neagley Spinoff Series Also in Production

Alongside ‘Reacher’ Season 4, Prime Video is expanding the franchise with a spinoff series focused on Frances Neagley. The show, simply titled Neagley, was announced in October 2024 and stars Maria Sten reprising her role .

Ritchson visited the set of the spinoff and shared behind-the-scenes images on Instagram in February 2026, praising Sten for “absolutely crushing it” in the lead role . The spinoff began filming in early 2026, with director Mj Bassett attached to the project .

While Ritchson hinted at a possible guest appearance in the spinoff, nothing has been confirmed. The expansion shows Prime Video’s commitment to building out Lee Child’s universe with more stories and characters.

What This Means for Fans

With filming complete and post-production moving forward, the path is clear for ‘Reacher’ Season 4 to arrive in late 2026. The series has maintained a strong track record since its debut in 2022, with Season 1 premiering in February 2022, Season 2 in December 2023, and Season 3 in February 2025 .

The longer gap between Seasons 3 and 4 aligns with the show’s production schedule, especially given the ambitious fight choreography Ritchson has described. The actor acknowledged the physical toll of the role, telling Collider, “I feel like the way the presidents come out of the White House looking grey and old, that’s how I feel each year doing Reacher. I feel like 10 lifetimes have been lived” .

For now, fans can catch up on all three previous seasons of Reacher, all streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
