The disguise is coming back much faster than anyone expected. Glen Powell’s Hulu comedy series Chad Powers will return for a second season this fall. The news arrived as a casual confirmation from showrunner Michael Waldron, who slipped the update into a statement about his new deal with 20th Television.
When the first season ended in October 2025, fans prepared for a long wait. Many streaming shows take two or even three years between seasons. But Waldron confirmed that the crew has been working hard, and the show is almost ready to go. He told Deadline that viewers should tune into Chad Powers Season 2 on Hulu this Fall. This puts the new episodes on track for a September or October 2026 release, roughly one year after the show first started.
Production Wrapped Quickly and Cast Celebrates
The team moved very fast to get this season made. Reports confirm that filming for the second season started in January 2026 in Georgia. By March 11, 2026, production had officially wrapped. The cast and crew shared a video online celebrating the end of shooting.
In that wrap video, a fully disguised Glen Powell thanked the team for their hard work. He told them he could not wait to share the new episodes with the world. Steve Zahn, who plays Jake Hudson, also teased the upcoming story earlier this year. He mentioned he had read two scripts for the new season.
Waldron Takes Bigger Creative Role
Michael Waldron is not just writing this season. He will step into the director’s chair for four of the six episodes. He is set to direct the season premiere and the season finale. This is a bigger role for Waldron, who co-created the show with Powell.
Waldron recently renewed his overall deal with 20th Television. In the announcement, he made sure to hype up the show’s return. He stated he wanted to remind everyone that Chad Powers Season 2 is arriving very soon.

What to Expect in the New Season
The first season ended with a major cliffhanger. Perry Mattfeld’s character, Ricky, discovered the truth about Russ Holliday’s disguise. The new season will likely deal with the fallout of that secret being exposed.
Chad Powers Season 2 will bring back the main cast. Quentin Plair returns as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia, and Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny. New guest stars will also join the show. Reports indicate Colin Woodell, Gillian Jacobs, Carey O’Donnell, and Nate Varrone have joined the cast for Season 2.
The series follows Russ Holliday (Powell), a hotshot quarterback who destroys his college career. He puts on prosthetics and changes his identity to walk onto a struggling Southern football team as the nice and talented Chad Powers. The show is based on a sketch by former NFL star Eli Manning. Manning and his brother Peyton Manning serve as executive producers on the series.
For viewers outside the US, the show is available on Disney+ in many regions, including Brazil and the UK. The first season had mixed reviews from critics (scoring 59% on Rotten Tomatoes) but scored high with audiences (83%).
