The new Magic Knight Rayearth anime is growing its roster. With the October 2026 premiere date locked in, the production team just announced three more voice actors joining the reboot. The news arrived on June 5, 2026, through the anime’s official social media channels, giving fans another reason to mark their calendars for this fall.

The original Magic Knight Rayearth series aired from 1994 to 1995, based on the famous manga by the all-female creative group CLAMP. The story follows three eighth-grade studentsโ€”Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououjiโ€”who get pulled from a Tokyo field trip into the fantasy world of Cephiro. There, they become legendary Magic Knights on a mission to rescue Princess Emeraude. The original show mixed magical girl action with giant robot battles, something rarely seen at the time.

New Cast Members Join the Fantasy Reboot

The three fresh additions to the Magic Knight Rayearth cast bring serious experience to the booth. Saori Hayami, known for her work on Demon Slayer and Fate/Grand Order, will voice Princess Emeraude. Yuuki Ono, a familiar name from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Haikyu!!, takes on the role of Zagato. Mika Kikuchi, recognized for Suite PreCure and Boruto, will voice the small creature Mokona.

These three characters play central roles in the original story. Princess Emeraude is the captured ruler of Cephiro whose summoning brings the three heroines to the new world. Zagato serves as the High Priest and main antagonist. Mokona is the fluffy, rabbit-like being who guides the Magic Knights on their journey.

The casting announcement happened on June 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM JST, following a teaser posted earlier on the official Magic Knight Rayearth X (formerly Twitter) account.

The original creators CLAMP released a new illustration alongside the main cast announcement in March. The group said in a statement:

“We are truly grateful to the production team for once again cherishing, loving, and continuing the story of ‘Magic Knight Rayearth,’ which began in 1993. It was a great honor to be among the first to hear the wonderful performances of the new cast and the beautiful music.”

Release Schedule and Where to Watch Early

The new Magic Knight Rayearth anime will premiere in October 2026 on TV Asahi in Japan. The show airs every Wednesday at 11:45 PM JST as part of the “IMAnimation W” programming block.

Fans in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and India will get an early look. The series will hold its world premiere at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles this July. Rie Takahashi, who voices Fuu Hououji, will attend the event.

International streaming details have not been announced yet. The original Magic Knight Rayearth series is currently available on Netflix for anyone wanting to catch up before the reboot arrives.

Voice recording for the new Magic Knight Rayearth anime is already in progress. At the AnimeJapan 2026 event, the three lead actresses shared that they made suggestions during recording sessions while staying true to the original characters.
