Akriti Agarwal Announces Separation On Instagram
Agarwal posted a statement on her Instagram account on September 17, confirming that she and Prithvi Shaw had decided to part ways. The announcement came after weeks of speculation about their relationship.
“With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my fiancé and I have decided to part ways due to different goals and circumstances for our future. As much as we love and care for each other, we’ve come to accept that our paths are not meant to be together. With our responsibilities and the circumstances we are currently facing, we have mutually decided to go our separate ways,” Agarwal wrote.
She also asked for privacy and urged people not to guess about the reasons behind the decision. “I genuinely wish nothing but the best, peace, and happiness for both of us as we move forward. I kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this difficult time and refrain from speculating or making assumptions about the reasons behind our decision,” she added.
Prithvi Shaw Deletes Instagram Posts
Following Agarwal‘s announcement, Prithvi Shaw removed almost all posts from his Instagram account. The only post remaining is from ten years ago, featuring a motivational quote that reads, “Work until you no longer have to introduce yourself”.
Shaw has not issued a separate public statement about the separation. His representatives have also not commented.
How The Relationship Started
Prithvi Shaw announced his engagement to Akriti Agarwal on March 8, 2026, sharing photos on social media. In one picture, he was seen on one knee proposing to her. Another image showed the couple displaying their engagement rings. He captioned the post, “From sixes on the field to a lifetime of hits off it. She’s my perfect innings!”
The couple went public with their relationship ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Agarwal was seen cheering for Shaw at matches and public events.
Speculation Started In July
Talk about trouble in their relationship began in July 2026 after Agarwal shared a series of posts on social media. One post appeared to refer to being cheated on, though she did not name Shaw. “I got cheated so many times, yet I never said a word. Still can’t believe that after taking one step ahead…” she wrote. She started as a content creator and gained popularity through lifestyle and dance videos. She later moved into acting and made her film debut in the Telugu psychological thriller Trimukha, which released on January 30, 2026. The film also features Sunny Leone, Yogesh Kalle, and Aditya Srivastava.
Prithvi Shaw’s Cricket Career
Prithvi Shaw is a 26-year-old cricketer who captains India to victory in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. He made his India debut in 2018 and scored a century in his first Test against the West Indies. At 18 years and 329 days, he became the youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut.
His international career has not progressed as expected. He last played for India in 2021. In October 2024, Mumbai dropped him from their Ranji Trophy squad. He has since played domestic cricket for Maharashtra.
At the IPL 2026 auction, Shaw went unsold in the initial rounds before Delhi Capitals bought him for Rs 75 lakh in the accelerated round. He did not play a single match in the 2026 IPL season.
