A First Ganesh Chaturthi at Krishna Raj

This year’s celebration was especially meaningful for the Kapoor family. It marked their first Ganesh Chaturthi at the newly renovated Krishna Raj bungalow, the home that Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt moved into during Diwali 2025. The bungalow holds deep sentimental value, having been passed down through generations of the Kapoor family and previously belonging to the late Rishi Kapoor.

The couple welcomed Lord Ganesha into their new home with an intimate setup. A viral photo shared on social media showed a framed photograph of Rishi Kapoor placed next to the Ganpati idol, a quiet tribute from Ranbir to his father. For decades, the Kapoor family hosted grand Ganpati celebrations at RK Studios in Chembur, a tradition started by Raj Kapoor in the 1950s. After the studio was sold in 2018, the festivities became a private, family affair.

Ranbir Kapoor Leads the Aarti

In the photos shared by Alia, Ranbir Kapoor is seen participating in the Ganpati aarti alongside his wife and mother, Neetu Kapoor. The actress was photographed holding the aarti thali as the family sought Bappa’s blessings. Raha, who is now four years old, sat next to her father during the puja, with a white heart emoji covering her face in the shared images.

Alia wore a bright yellow traditional suit for the occasion, pairing it with ethnic jewellery, a neat bun, and yellow flowers in her hair. For the visarjan ceremony on September 18, she chose a pink-and-green kurta suit, while Ranbir wore a rust-orange kurta with white pyjamas. Neetu Kapoor complemented the family in a printed blue co-ord set.

Raha Draws the Ganpati Idol

One of the most touching moments from the celebrations was a photo showing Raha drawing a sketch of the Ganpati idol on paper and colouring it with crayons. The little one was dressed in a yellow outfit for the puja. Alia has maintained a strict policy of not revealing her daughter’s face on social media, a decision she and Ranbir made in 2025 after a security incident involving another Bollywood family.

The actress also shared pictures with her mother Soni Razdan and sister Shaheen Bhatt, who joined the celebrations. In her Instagram caption, Alia wrote, “the week that was ✨ गणपती बाप्पा मोरया.”

Ganpati Visarjan With Family

The visarjan ceremony took place on Friday, September 18, 2026. Ranbir Kapoor carried the Ganpati idol as the family stepped out of their bungalow, chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya” and “Jai Shri Ram.” Neetu Kapoor held a thaali and joined in the chants. Alia held Raha close, shielding her daughter’s face from the cameras. In a gesture that caught the attention of fans online, Alia was seen walking backwards during the procession, a traditional sign of respect as the Ganpati idol faces the devotee.

The family also posed for the paparazzi gathered outside their home before the immersion. Ranbir handed out sweets to the photographers, a warm moment that was captured in several viral videos.
