The creative mind behind the beloved children’s show Bluey is moving into very different territory. Joe Brumm is now working as an executive producer on an adult animated comedy for Hulu called Deano. This marks Brumm’s first project aimed at grown-ups, and it is already generating significant buzz.
The streaming platform has officially ordered eight episodes of the half-hour series. Deano is adapted from a popular web series titled Childish Deano and comes from its original creators, Dean Thomas and David Ferrier. Thomas will also provide the voice for the main character .
What Is Deano About?
The show centers on an eight-year-old boy named Deano. According to the official description released by Disney, Deano is a “spirited cheeky charmer of a boy” who lives in a tough neighborhood, in a house that “should be condemned” .
Despite his difficult surroundings, Deano has no idea that life has stacked the odds against him. He moves through his world with a fearless attitude and embraces everyone he meets. This includes local teenage dropouts and even the town police chief .
The heart of the series lies in the friendship between Deano and his best mate, Kit. Kit comes from a wealthy family and is timid, but he is drawn to Deano’s energy and fearless way of looking at the world. Together, they navigate an “unfiltered world” that is short on empathy .
“Deano is a spirited cheeky charmer of a boy, whose tough exterior coats a real heart of gold,” the official synopsis reads .
