The wait is almost over for Squid Game fans as Netflix releases the official trailer for Season 3, the final chapter of the global phenomenon. Lead actor Lee Jung Jae, who plays Seong Gi-hun, shared his hopes that the last season will satisfy fans after the show became Netflixโs most-watched series. The trailer teases deadly new games, emotional confrontations, and the ultimate showdown between Gi-hun and the Front Man.
Lee Jung Jae spoke openly about the pressure of delivering a strong finale. “As grateful as I am, I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t any pressure,” he told Variety. “We’re going to be releasing Season 3โฆ I hope it does not disappoint.” The actorโs character, Gi-hun, returns for one last brutal round of survival after his rebellion failed in Season 2.
The new trailer, unveiled at Netflix Tudum 2025, shows Gi-hun back in the deadly competition. He screams, “Why didnโt you kill me? Why did you keep me alive?” as he struggles with guilt and despair. The footage also confirms the return of the terrifying doll Young-hee, now joined by a male counterpart named Chul-su, hinting at a deadlier version of Red Light, Green Light.
Season 2 ended with Gi-hunโs failed uprising and the shocking death of his best friend, Jung-bae, at the hands of the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). The final season picks up immediately after, with Gi-hun determined to end the games once and for all. The trailer suggests a face-to-face confrontation between Gi-hun and the Front Man, whose true identity as Player 001 adds deeper betrayal.
New games await the players, including a giant gumball machine that dispenses fate-deciding balls and a twisted version of jump rope set to a haunting Korean childrenโs song. The stakes are higher than ever, with fewer survivors and more psychological torment.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, explained the emotional core of the final season. “The new season will focus on what Gi-hun can and will do after all his efforts fail,” he said. “He is in utter despair after losing everything. The story questions whether he can rise again and prove that values like conscience and kindness can exist in this brutal arena.”
Fans have flooded social media with reactions to the trailer. One viewer wrote, “When Gi-hun and the Front Man finally meet, my heart dropped.” Another added, “The new games look even more terrifyingโIโm not ready!”
