The truth behind why BTS member Jin is missing from the songwriting credits of the group’s latest album has finally been shared. On April 15, 2026, Rolling Stone published a solo interview with Jin where he explained that his RUNJIN tour schedule was set long before the album’s recording sessions began.

Jin said that by the time he finished his solo tour and joined the other members in Los Angeles, over 100 songs had already been created. He spent about 7 to 10 days testing recordings of the best tracks, but the sessions were already coming to an end.

The BTS star said that if he had pushed to add his own songs, the album release would have been delayed by several months. He also said that he did not want fans to wait that long for new music.

Why Jin’s Name Is Not on ‘ARIRANG’ Credits

BTS released their fifth studio album ARIRANG on March 20, 2026. The album features 14 tracks including the title song “SWIM.” RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook all have credits on the album. But Jin’s name is missing.

During the Rolling Stone interview, Jin shared details that he had not talked about before. He said he was still on his solo RUNJIN tour when the group started their songwriting camp in the US. The recording sessions were scheduled three months in advance. But his tour was planned several months before that.

When the interviewer asked if the album would have been better with more of Jin’s writing credits, he replied:

“I do think it would have been better. But the other members did a beautiful job. Plus, if I had been greedy and pushed the whole session just so I could add my own songs, this interview would be happening months from now. Wouldn’t the fans be too bored during that time? The recording was scheduled about three months in advance, and my tour was scheduled earlier than that. So the timing just didn’t work out.”

He also said that his solo activities during the group’s military hiatus were meant to keep fans engaged. He added that he had never imagined performing alone on stage before.

Fans React to Jin’s Explanation on Social Media

After clips from the Rolling Stone interview spread on X (formerly Twitter) , fans quickly jumped to defend Jin. Many pointed out that the scheduling conflict was not his fault. Some fans called for those who blamed Jin to apologize.

One fan wrote:

“Everyone who implied that should apologize to him”

Another fan expressed disappointment with the company’s planning:

“It would have been much better, yes! This is why a company shouldn’t schedule a song camp in the middle of a members solo tour which was scheduled much before that!”

A different fan said:

“This needs to get posted everywhere in all platforms and under any army who dared to blame Seokjin for this!”

Many fans also pointed out that Jin had already sold tickets for his solo tour. Canceling those shows would have let down thousands of fans who paid to see him.

Some fans questioned why HYBE and BigHit Music did not adjust the song camp schedule to include all seven members.

What Jin Said About Solo Work and BTS Future

Jin also spoke about how he views solo work compared to group activities. In the same Rolling Stone interview, he said that being with BTS is what matters most to him.

He said:

“I’ve always thought there’s no reason to continue if it’s not with the group. I guess a solo career is just not that important to me. If I did anything, it would be trying something different within the group when the fans are bored. I’m not interested in acting or anything like that.”

He also shared his biggest dream as a performer:

“My biggest dream has been to go on tour with BTS and meet as many fans as I can, from all over the world.”

That dream is now happening. BTS started their world tour on April 9, 2026 in Goyang, South Korea. The group performed three sold-out shows there before heading to Japan.

BTS Tokyo Dome Shows Happening Now

BTS will perform at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on April 17 and April 18, 2026. These shows are part of the group’s first world tour since their 2021-2022 Permission to Dance on Stage tour.

The ARIRANG tour will visit more than 70 cities across five continents. The tour will run through March 2027. Fans in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia will get to see the group perform live.

BTS made their full group comeback after nearly four years. All seven members completed their mandatory military service in South Korea before reuniting for the album and tour.
