The Apple TV+ hit Your Friends and Neighbors is getting ready for its third season. As the Season 2 finale just aired on June 5, 2026, the streaming service has already confirmed two major additions to the cast. Joshua Jackson and Michelle Monaghan will join Jon Hamm in the upcoming season.
Joshua Jackson Joins in Major Recurring Role
Joshua Jackson has been cast in a major recurring role for Season 3. The actor, known for his work on The Affair and Doctor Odyssey, will appear alongside the returning cast. Apple TV announced the news on social media on June 4, 2026, just one day before the Season 2 finale.
Character details for Jackson remain under wraps. The show’s creators are keeping his role a secret for now. Jackson is no stranger to playing complex characters in high-stakes dramas. His past work includes Dawson’s Creek, Fringe, and the recently canceled ABC series Doctor Odyssey.
Jackson will next be seen alongside Katie Holmes in the feature Happy Hours, which premieres June 6 at the Tribeca Festival. He is also set to star in the HBO Max drama pilot How To Survive Without Me.
Michelle Monaghan Joins as Series Regular
Earlier casting news confirmed that Michelle Monaghan will join Your Friends and Neighbors as a new series regular for Season 3. Monaghan is known for her roles in True Detective, The Bourne Supremacy, and Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
Like Jackson, Monaghan’s character details have not been released. Her addition to the main cast shows that Apple is investing heavily in the show’s future.
Season 3 Already in Production
Production on Season 3 started in New York State as early as May 2026. The renewal came early. Apple TV ordered the third season back in February 2026, before Season 2 even premiered. This early vote of confidence shows the streamer believes in the show’s staying power.
Jon Hamm, who plays Andrew “Coop” Cooper, already read scripts for Season 3 up to episode 6. He revealed this during a radio interview before Season 2 started airing.
What to Expect From Season 3
The official Season 3 description gives fans a hint of what is coming. The new season will find Andrew Cooper doubling down on his life as an unlikely suburban thief. Then the arrival of a new neighbor threatens to expose his secrets and put his family at risk.
This fits perfectly with what happened in the Season 2 finale. Coop, Nick, and Barney dumped a car in a lake with James Marsden‘s character Owen Ashe inside. A fisherman found the body at the very end of the episode. Now with a new neighbor on the way, Coop’s secret might not stay hidden for long.

The show has become a major hit for Apple TV+. It recently became the most-watched show on Apple TV+ in America, beating out other popular series. Season 2 holds an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is up from Season 1’s 79%.
James Marsden, who joined in Season 2 as Owen Ashe, will not return after his character’s death in the finale.
