MYTH and ROID Returns for Opening Theme
MYTH & ROID is coming back to perform the opening theme song. The group also did the first season’s opener, JINGO JUNGLE, and the movie’s theme. The new song is titled Why? REDinduction. The band mentioned that the track carries the wild energy of the first opening but mixes in a serious and sorrowful feeling that fits the second season.
The ending theme is very special for fans. Aoi Yuki, the voice of Tanya Degurechaff, will sing Weiter! Weiter!. The song is produced by Masayuki Nakano from BOOM BOOM SATELLITES. This continues the tradition from season one, where Aoi Yuki also performed the ending song Los! Los! Los!.
New Key Visual and Mini Anime Announcement
The second key visual dropped along with the release date news. It shows a giant Tanya standing tall in the center, waving a baton. Behind her are two top leaders of the Imperial Army: Zettour (voiced by Houchu Otsuka) and Rudelldorf (voiced by Tessho Genda). The image suggests Tanya is controlling the military high command, not just following orders.
The studio also confirmed a mini anime series titled Youjo Shenki 2 (Little Girl Chronicle 2). These short episodes will air on AT-X after the main show ends. They will also post on the KADOKAWA Anime Channel on YouTube every Wednesday at midnight. The mini series will focus on side stories, like Vice (voiced by Hiroki Amano) worrying about new recruits who lack training, and Tanya dealing with winter problems.
What to Expect in Season 2
Saga of Tanya the Evil is based on the light novel series by Carlo Zen with art by Shinobu Shinotsuki. The books have sold over 12 million copies. The story follows a rational Japanese salaryman who gets killed by a disgruntled ex-employee. A being he calls Being X reincarnates him as a little blonde girl in an alternate version of World War I-era Europe.
Tanya decides to survive by climbing the military ranks. She uses her adult intelligence and ruthless logic to become one of the empire’s deadliest mage officers. In season two, Tanya gets assigned to lead the Salamander Combat Group, a unit made of leftover forces. She has to throw herself back into brutal battles. The official synopsis says she will face “intensifying warfires” that burn everything around her.
The returning staff includes Takayuki Yamamoto as the new director at Studio NUT. Kenta Ihara is back to write the scripts. Yuji Hosogoe returns as character designer and chief animation director.
