The new adult animated comedy series Alley Cats from Ricky Gervais is almost here. Netflix will release all six episodes of the show on August 7, 2026. This marks Gervais’s return to adult animation since The Ricky Gervais Show ended in 2012.

What Is Alley Cats About?
Alley Cats is an adult animated sitcom. The show follows a gang of foul-mouthed feral cats who cause trouble while thinking about the meaning of life. They fight to survive in a tough human world.
The group of cats is called Annecy. They talk about many real-world topics and team up to fight against a kid. The series looks at life from the funny to the absurd.

Gervais said it was a “no brainer” to work with his After Life cast again. He explained:
“You know them, you trust them, you know what they’re good at [and] it’s fun.”
Gervais also spoke about the benefits of voice acting:
“I don’t have to do hair and makeup; I don’t have to get up early. The cats never get old. So as I get older and fatter, I can still sit in a chair and continue to make this forever.”

Ricky Gervais serves as creator, writer, director, and executive producer. Elliot Dear is the co-director. Dear previously worked on the All Through The House episode of Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots and the Bear and the Hare advert for John Lewis.
