The Pentagon has released another large set of declassified UFO files. This fifth batch includes 41 new files with videos, images, and documents that show mysterious objects in the sky. The release happened on August 7, 2026, and it is part of an ongoing effort to make government records about unidentified aerial phenomena available to the public.
The new files come from multiple government agencies. These include the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, State Department, and the Executive Office of the President. The documents cover a wide time span. The oldest file dates back to 1950, and the newest one is from 2026.
This release follows an executive order from President Donald Trump issued earlier this year. The order directed the military and other federal agencies to produce and release more documents related to UFOs. It is the fifth public release of UFO-related records this year.
What the New UFO Files Contain
The latest batch includes a mix of materials. There are over a dozen videos, three images, and many PDF documents. The videos show strange objects moving in ways that do not match normal aircraft or natural events.
One video shows a mysterious orb speeding over a residential area in the Middle East. Another clip displays a black sphere hovering over the Pacific Ocean. The sphere seems to vanish for a moment and then reappear.
Footage from the Gulf of Oman in 2021 appears to show a dark cold orb moving in irregular patterns. The orb measured about 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter. Military personnel recorded this footage using infrared cameras on an AC-130J gunship during a training exercise.
An intelligence report that came with the footage said the crew observed around 25 instances of UAPs during a live fire exercise in the Gulf of Oman. The objects flew at lower altitudes and reached speeds between 250 to 1,300 miles per hour. They had no detected means of propulsion.
The objects also appeared to react when the aircraft fired its main cannon. When the cannon fired, the UAPs quickly flew away out of the sensors view without changing altitude. The report described this pattern as similar to how dolphins playfully swim in a pod.
Another video from 2025 shows a round sphere traveling in a straight line over an urban residential area in the Middle East. U.S. Central Command submitted this footage. The incident remains unresolved.
Eyewitness Accounts and Pilot Reports
The files also include firsthand accounts from military personnel and pilots. One declassified FBI document contains a former military pilots description of seeing lights in the sky in October 2023. He was on a flight between Boston and Dublin when he saw the lights.
The pilot said many other pilots have seen similar events between midnight and 3am. The white lights would start dim and then get brighter before fading away. Some lights stayed still, while others moved in straight lines or changed directions. He has seen these lights at least ten times since 2023.
Another report describes an encounter over Afghanistan in 2002. A military pilot recalled seeing a huge triangle that blocked out the stars. This shows that unusual sightings have been happening for decades.
A 1953 document from the U.S. Naval Photographic Interpretation Center discusses two videos captured in Montana and Utah in 1950 and 1952. The center concluded that the videos show objects with characteristics inconsistent with natural phenomena.
Images and Renderings in the Release
The new files include three images, but they are not actual photographs of UAPs. They are artistic renderings. These renderings are visual interpretations based on firsthand descriptions of encounters.
One rendering shows a large dark triangle in the sky with round lights at each corner. This image comes from a description given by two former U.S. military service members from the summer of 2011.

The records in this release come from many trusted sources. These include government offices, the FBI, the State Department, several military branches, and NASA. The Pentagon has made all these files available to the public through their official UFO website.
