Kapil Sharma is bringing his comedy gang back to Netflix. The comedian announced The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 on September 16, 2026, with a promotional video shared on Instagram. The new season premieres on September 26, with fresh episodes dropping every Saturday at 8 PM exclusively on Netflix.
The announcement comes just six months after Season 4 ended on March 14, 2026. The show is returning with a festive theme called “Hasi Ka TyoHAHAar” (Festival of Laughter), timed to run through the upcoming holiday season.
The Announcement And What Kapil Sharma Said
Kapil Sharma shared a promotional video on Instagram featuring the entire cast. The clip opens with Kapil calling for the show to begin as Season 5 kicks off. The cast is seen in bright festive outfits, with the promo highlighting celebrations like Navratri, Diwali, Eid, Halloween, Christmas and New Year.
The post was captioned: “Dhol, nagaada sab bajega, kyunki Hansi Ka TyoHAHAar ab Netflix pe sajega! Dekhiye The Great Indian Kapil Show, Season 5 from 26th September, raat 8 baje, only on Netflix”.
Kapil Sharma explained the show’s return with his signature humour.
“Every season, we think we have done enough masti (fun), and then we realise that we are not done yet! And somewhere I feel that’s what keeps us going. We are extremely grateful for the love our audience, world over, has given The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix and this time around we will be celebrating the upcoming festivities wholeheartedly… be it Diwali or Christmas. Bas lifafe Archana ji se duur rakhiye, baki hum Hasi ka Tyohaar to le kar aa hi rahe hain!”
The last line translates to: “Just keep the gifts and envelopes away from Archana ji, we are coming with the festival of laughter.”
The Full Cast Is Returning For Season 5
The core cast of the show is reuniting for the new season. Kapil Sharma returns as host, alongside Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Netflix described the new season as offering “the quintessential The Great Indian Kapil Show experience: only bigger, crazier and more delightfully unpredictable”. The guest mix will bring together celebrity guests, newsmakers and quirky personalities from different walks of life.
The format stays familiar: candid conversations, comedy sketches, playful roasting and unscripted banter between the cast and their guests.
Netflix Calls It A Family Entertainer
Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix, shared her thoughts on the show’s return.
“As we continue to build our comedy slate with diverse voices, formats and flavours, The Great Indian Kapil Show has carved out a distinct place for itself as an all-time and evergreen family entertainer. Now in its fifth season, the show stands as proof that our curated approach for this show is bringing audiences of all ages together, creating a shared cultural experience. Returning after a six-month gap, the anticipation around the show has been building, and we’re thrilled to bring it back with an exciting line-up of guests right at the start of the festive season. This season is all about ‘har type ka funny’, with Kapil truly living up to his title as the comedy king.”
