BTS members Jin and Jungkook had to personally ask fans to stop filming at Incheon International Airport on September 30, 2026, after some individuals continued recording even while the group’s passports were being checked. The five members present — Jimin, Jin, V, Jungkook, and J-Hope — were departing for Atlanta ahead of the South American leg of their ‘BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG”, which begins on October 2 in Bogotá, Colombia. The airport incident has brought fresh attention to the ongoing issue of overzealous fan behaviour and artist privacy in South Korea.

What Happened At Incheon Airport

On the morning of September 30, 2026, a large crowd of fans gathered at Incheon International Airport to see the BTS members off. As the group made their way through departure procedures, fans followed them closely and kept filming. The situation became more serious during the passport verification process, when recording continued despite the risk of exposing personal information. Passports contain sensitive details, and filming them without consent is a serious privacy concern.

Jin was the first to react. He turned to Jungkook and said, “Hey, Jungkook, tell them to stop filming.” Jungkook then directly addressed the fans around him, saying, “Please stop.” Security guards also stepped in repeatedly, telling the crowd, “Please stop,” “Don’t film,” and “Your passports are visible,” according to reports from Sports Chosun, Insight Korea, and Herald Muse.

Despite these requests, some fans did not stop filming immediately. The members’ discomfort was clear, and the fact that they had to ask personally shows how difficult the situation had become.

Why Passport Filming Is A Serious Problem

Airports are public spaces, but the immigration and passport control area requires special care. When passports are being checked, personal information like full names, dates of birth, passport numbers, and nationality can be exposed. For celebrities who are already followed constantly, this adds another layer of privacy invasion. The incident has led to renewed calls for fans to respect boundaries, especially in sensitive areas like immigration counters.

BTS Has Spoken About Fan Boundaries Before

This is not the first time BTS members have addressed invasive fan behaviour. In August 2026, V and Jungkook shared a story on Weverse about going to a hotel gym at 2 AM and finding around 20 fans there. Jungkook said at the time, “I worked out at 2 AM, and there were 20 people in the gym. Does that make sense? I’ve never seen people working out at dawn during a tour. But there were 20 people. I can’t accept that.” He added, “If you want to work out, 20 or 30 people doesn’t matter. If anything, it’s good if it helps. But please don’t just stare. Look at the equipment. Isn’t this our private life?”

In July 2026, V also asked fans to stop visiting their hotels, saying, “I’m really grateful for the feelings of welcome, but if possible, I’d appreciate it if you could refrain from coming to the hotel. I don’t want to share where we are staying.”

BigHit Music has taken legal action against stalkers and sasaeng fans. In June 2026, the agency shared that a defendant who broke into an artist’s home and repeatedly stalked them received a one-year prison sentence with a two-year probation period. The agency stated, “We maintain a zero-tolerance principle against malicious actors targeting our artists, and this applies equally to both Koreans and foreigners.” A Brazilian woman who rang Jungkook’s doorbell 133 times also received a suspended prison sentence earlier in 2026.

A Viral Airport Moment

The same airport departure also gave fans a lighter moment. Jin arrived wearing a T-shirt printed with Jungkook’s face from his solo album ‘GOLDEN’. Jungkook noticed his own image on his hyung’s shirt and looked closely at it, while V and J-Hope laughed at the scene. Jin even recreated the pose from the printed photo, with V helping him get the angle right.

The moment quickly spread across social media and became a fan-favourite interaction from the departure.
