Kim Ji Won in Talks to Be New Face of Soju Brand Chum Churum
Popular actress Kim Ji Won is reportedly in discussions to become the new brand ambassador for Korean soju brand Chum Churum.
According to reports on March 26, Kim Ji Won, known for her roles in dramas like “Descendants of the Sun” and the recent hit “Queen of Tears,” is being considered to replace actress Han So Hee as the face of the brand.
Chum Churum Remains Tight-Lipped on New Model
While reports claim Kim Ji Won is the frontrunner, Chum Churum‘s parent company, Lotte, has yet to confirm the news. A representative for Lotte responded to inquiries with a cautious statement:
“We are exploring possibilities in regards to the Chum Churum model. However, at this time, I cannot confirm anything.”
This lack of confirmation leaves the official role open, with Kim Ji Won’s potential ambassadorship still under negotiation.
Han So Hee’s Short-Lived Partnership with Chum Churum
The news of Kim Ji Won’s potential involvement with Chum Churum comes just weeks after the brand announced it would not be renewing its contract with Han So Hee. The actress, who became the face of Chum Churum in early 2023, only held the position for a year before the brand decided to move in a different direction.
Did Han So Hee’s Controversy Affect Brand Renewal?
Han So Hee’s contract termination with Chum Churum coincided with rumors of a romantic relationship with actor Ryu Jun Yeol. While both actors denied the claims, the speculation led many to believe it might have influenced the brand’s decision not to renew.
Soju brands in Korea are known to be particularly cautious about their public image, and maintaining a clean and wholesome image is often a priority.
What Does This Mean for Kim Ji Won?
Kim Ji Won’s reputation for portraying relatable and down-to-earth characters could make her a strong fit for Chum Churum. However, with Lotte refusing to confirm anything at this point, it remains to be seen if she will officially become the brand’s new ambassador.
