The Full Cast Returning for the New Episode
The core team of doctors from Bronx General Hospital will all return when the show comes back from hiatus. The main cast is led by Zachary Quinto as the brilliant but unconventional neurologist Dr. Oliver Wolf. He is joined by Tamberla Perry as psychiatry chief Dr. Carol Pierce and Ashleigh LaThrop as the diligent intern Dr. Ericka Kinney.
The cast also features Teddy Sears as neurosurgeon and Wolf’s romantic interest, Dr. Josh Nichols, and Donna Murphy as the formidable Chief Medical Officer Dr. Muriel Landon, who also happens to be Wolf’s mother. Season 2 introduced several new regulars who will continue their stories. These include Brian Altemus as the competitive new resident Dr. Charlie Porter, John Clarence Stewart as charming ER doctor Dr. Anthony Thorne, and Al Calderon as the well-connected Nurse Nico Silva.
“We’re telling a story in modern day where I play a character who is a fictional creation of my imagination, and my collaboration with Michael Grassi, our incredible showrunner,” Zachary Quinto explained about his role, noting the show’s basis in real neurological cases. “We could do this show for seven years, and I’d still not get to the end of all the source material.”
Other returning faces include Aury Krebs as Dr. Dana Dang and Spence Moore II as Dr. Jacob Nash. Bellamy Young also joined the season in a recurring role as Dr. Amelia Frank, a clinical director from a mental healthcare facility who has become a significant figure in Dr. Wolf’s recent story.
What Happened in the Season 2 Fall Finale?
Episode 10, titled “The Resident,” served as the fall finale and left several key storylines in suspense. The episode focused heavily on Dr. Wolf’s mental and emotional state while he was a patient at the Harlan Oaks facility. Although he claimed he was being held against his will, it was revealed he had checked in voluntarily. Dr. Amelia Frank visited him there, pushing him to confront his reasons for admission.
Meanwhile, back at Bronx General, the medical team tackled a puzzling case involving a ballerina who became mysteriously paralyzed during a rehearsal. The doctors worked to determine if the cause was neurological or psychological. The episode also featured the hospital’s annual holiday gala, where major secrets were revealed, affecting the personal and professional lives of the doctors.
The finale continued exploring ongoing mysteries, such as the details surrounding a car crash connected to Hudson Oaks. With Wolf away, Dr. Charlie Porter grappled with personal guilt related to his mentor, and the interns worked to keep the neurology unit running smoothly.

Details on the Show’s Guest Stars and Inspiration
Season 2 has featured several notable guest stars, a trend that is expected to continue. Earlier episodes included appearances by Porsha Williams, Jane Krakowski, and Connor Tomlinson. A particularly notable guest spot came from Eric Dane, who played a firefighter diagnosed with ALS in an emotional episode. His performance was so powerful it earned a standing ovation from the cast and crew on set.
The series is inspired by the real-life work and writings of famed neurologist Dr. Oliver Sacks. The character of Dr. Oliver Wolf is a fictional creation inspired by Sacks’s approach to medicine, which treats each patient’s unique story as critically important as their symptoms. The show’s creator, Michael Grassi, along with Quinto and the writing team, draws from Sacks’s extensive books, articles, and lectures to develop the medical cases.
