Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series has added another actor to its growing ensemble. Laura Marcus has been cast as a series regular, joining previously announced cast members Toby Wallace, Lola Petticrew, and Zachary Hart. According to reports, Marcus is the youngest cast member announced for the highly secretive project so far. Production for the series, a collaboration between Netflix and Ubisoft Film & Television, is scheduled to begin in Italy in 2026.
Laura Marcus Joins the Secret War
The news of Laura Marcus joining the cast was officially reported by industry outlets like Deadline and confirmed by an announcement from Ubisoft News. As is standard for the production, no details about her character have been disclosed. However, it has been confirmed that she has been hired as a series regular, indicating she will play a significant, ongoing role in the narrative.
Marcus is a rising actress whose career is gaining momentum. She recently appeared as Mollie Garfield in Netflix’s limited series Death by Lightning. She also had a recurring role in the second season of the acclaimed Disney+ series Andor and is set to appear in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel film, Sunrise on the Reaping, where she will play Silka. Her other television credits include The Serpent Queen on Starz and The Devil’s Hour on Prime Video.
The Growing Cast of Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed
The casting of Laura Marcus continues the steady build-up of talent for the live-action adaptation. The first actor announced was Australian actor Toby Wallace in November 2025. Wallace, known for his roles in HBO’s Euphoria and the film The Bikeriders, is set to play a co-lead in the series. Shortly after, it was confirmed that Lola Petticrew (Bloodlands, Trespasses) had also joined the project.
In the same announcement that confirmed Marcus, it was also officially revealed that Zachary Hart had joined the cast. Hart is an actor known for his work on the West End stage, including the Tony-nominated play Stereophonic, and for his role in the Apple TV+ series Slow Horses. Like their new co-star, the specific roles for Wallace, Petticrew, and Hart are being kept secret.

The Show’s Creative Team and Story
The Assassin’s Creed series is being led by showrunners Roberto Patino and David Wiener. Patino’s previous writing and producing credits include DMZ, Westworld, and Sons of Anarchy, while Wiener served as showrunner for the television adaptation of Halo and worked on Homecoming and The Killing. They will also executive produce the series alongside Ubisoft Film & Television’s Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Genevieve Jones, as well as Matt O’Toole.
The official description for the series states it will be a “high-octane thriller” centered on the ancient, secret war between two factions: the Templar Order, which seeks to control humanity’s future, and the Assassin Brotherhood, which fights to preserve free will. The story will follow its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny. Reports indicate the series will feature new characters created specifically for the show, rather than direct adaptations from the games.
Production Plans and Setting
Pre-production work is actively underway. The series is targeting a start of production in 2026, with filming set to take place in Italy. Italy is confirmed to serve as a setting for the series, though the exact time period or periods the story will explore remain unknown. This aligns with the franchise’s tradition of weaving narratives through significant historical settings, from the Third Crusade to the Italian Renaissance and the American Revolution.
The series is the first live-action show to emerge from a broader partnership between Netflix and Ubisoft announced in 2020. The deal also includes plans for an animated Assassin’s Creed series and games for the Netflix Games platform.
