The adventure on the Grand Line takes a serious turn in the sixth episode of One Piece season 2. After the intense battles on Little Garden, the Straw Hat Pirates face a new and dangerous challenge: the health of their navigator, Nami. Episode 6, titled “Nami Deerest,” which premiered on Netflix on March 10, 2026, shifts the focus from explosive action to a desperate race against time, forcing the crew to seek refuge on the wintry and mysterious Drum Island.

The 55-minute episode begins right where the previous one left off. The celebration of their victory over Mr. 3 is cut short when Nami (Emily Rudd) suddenly collapses on the deck of the Going Merry. With no visible injuries and a rapidly worsening condition, the crew realizes this is no ordinary fatigue. The initial plan to sail directly to Alabasta is immediately scrapped. Their priority is clear: find a doctor, and fast. Their only lead is the nearest island, Drum Island, a place known for its medical advancements but shrouded in its own dark history.

A Kingdom in Crisis and a Desperate Climb

As they approach the snow-covered island, Princess Vivi (Charithra Chandran) reveals the complicated political history between her kingdom of Alabasta and Drum Kingdom. Through a flashback set 10 years prior, viewers see a young Vivi eavesdropping on a meeting of world leaders at Pangaea Castle. The scene depicts a tense argument between her father, the wise King Cobra (Sendhil Ramamurthy) , and the greedy King Wapol of Drum (Rob Colletti) , establishing the long-standing bad blood between their nations. This flashback also serves as a fun introduction for eagle-eyed fans, featuring a quick cameo of the famously ridiculous King Taco of the Kingdom of the Dead , who silently reacts with disdain after Wapol wipes his dirty hands on his clothes.

Upon arriving at Drum Island, the Straw Hats are met not with help, but with hostility. The terrified citizens, led by the captain of the guard Dalton (Ty Keogh) , shoot at them, fearing all pirates after a traumatic past event. It is only through Vivi’s desperate pleas that they are finally allowed into the town. Once inside, Dalton explains the kingdom’s tragic state. The once-great medical nation was thrown into chaos when the powerful pirate Blackbeard attacked. In the face of danger, the selfish King Wapol and his soldiers fled, abandoning their people and taking most of the kingdom’s doctors with them. Now, the only hope for the sick is a woman the townspeople call a “witch doctor” who lives in the abandoned Drum Castle at the peak of a treacherous, icy mountain. Her name is Dr. Kureha.

Despite Dalton’s warnings to wait until morning, Nami’s condition is critical. Refusing to let his crewmate die, Luffy (Iรฑaki Godoy) makes the impulsive but determined decision to climb the mountain immediately. He straps an unconscious Nami to his back, and with the injured Sanji (Taz Skylar) held in his mouth, he begins the near-impossible vertical ascent up the sheer cliff face in the middle of a blizzard.

The First Glimpse of a Beloved Crewmate

Back in the town, Zoro (Mackenyu) stays behind with Dalton, standing guard. During their conversation, Dalton shares his hope for Drum Island’s futureโ€”a peaceful nation free from tyrants, a dream he wishes to protect but not rule. Meanwhile, the action cuts to the Marines. Smoker (Callum Kerr) and Tashigi (Julia Rehwald) arrive at a Marine communications outpost, only to find it attacked. They are forced to fight off two Baroque Works agents, Mr. 13 and Miss Thursday , showcasing that the criminal organization’s reach extends far beyond the islands the Straw Hats have visited.

The episode’s climax delivers the moment many fans have been waiting for. After an exhausting climb that leaves them frozen and collapsed at the castle gates, Luffy and Sanji are discovered not by a witch, but by a strange, furry blue-nosed creature wearing a pink hat. This is Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover) . The scene then shifts inside the castle, where Nami wakes to find herself attached to an IV. She sees Sanji resting in another bed and then spots the same small, reindeer-like creature timidly walking by. When Nami speaks to him, he panics and hides behind a pillar, only to pop his head out and respond. Yes, this reindeer can talk.

The mystery is soon solved by the entrance of the eccentric Dr. Kureha (Katey Sagal) , a 139-year-old physician with a personality as loud and bold as her appearance. Dr. Kureha reveals that Nami was bitten by a Kestia , an infectious tick from Little Garden, and that she must stay until she is fully healed. When Nami asks about her captain and cook, Dr. Kureha explains that Luffy suffered from severe hypothermia and was placed in warm water, while Sanji cracked some ribs during the climb. Just then, a fully recovered Luffy bursts into the room, overjoyed to see Nami awake, followed closely by Sanji. The episode ends on a note of pure wonder as Luffy spots Chopper peeking from behind some furniture. Dr. Kureha orders Chopper to show Sanji to the kitchen, forcing the shy creature out of hiding. As Chopper responds and leads the way, Luffy’s eyes go wide in disbelief. A talking reindeer. His new adventure on Drum Island has just become a lot more interesting.

This episode successfully sets the stage for the emotional backstory and eventual crew addition that will take center stage in the following episodes, introducing Dr. Kureha and Chopper with the perfect blend of mystery, humor, and heart.
