The band last performed in Australia in 2015 during their “Rock or Bust” tour. This upcoming tour celebrates their 2020 album “Power Up,” which topped charts worldwide. Australian punk band Amyl and The Sniffers will join as special guests for all shows.

The Australian leg of the tour includes:

  • November 12 โ€“ Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
  • November 21 โ€“ Sydney Accor Stadium
  • November 30 โ€“ Adelaide Oval (bp Adelaide Grand Final)
  • December 4 โ€“ Perth Optus Stadium
  • December 14 โ€“ Brisbane Suncorp Stadium

Tickets go on sale June 26 at staggered times through Ticketek and Ticketmaster. Fans expect high demand, as AC/DCโ€™s previous Australian tours sold over 1 million tickets combined.

A Major Homecoming for AC/DC

AC/DC formed in Sydney in 1973 and quickly became one of the biggest rock bands in history. Their 1980 album Back in Black remains one of the best-selling albums ever, with over 50 million copies sold.

The current lineup includes original member Angus Young (lead guitar), Brian Johnson (vocals), Stevie Young (rhythm guitar), Matt Laug (drums), and Chris Chaney (bass).

“AC/DC puts their fans ahead of everything else. Theyโ€™re perfectionists in every way and will always make sure each fan walks out with a big smile on their face,” said Australian tour promoter Christo Van Egmond.

Global Success of the “Power Up” Tour

The “Power Up” tour began in Europe in 2024, selling over 2 million tickets in 24 shows. It then moved to North America, where AC/DC played 10 sold-out concerts. The Australian dates will conclude the massive world tour.

Fans can expect a mix of classic hits like Highway to Hell and Thunderstruck, along with tracks from Power Up. The album debuted at No. 1 in Australia, the US, and the UK.

Amyl and The Sniffers Join as Opening Act

Melbourne punk band Amyl and The Sniffers will support AC/DC at all shows. Frontwoman Amy Taylor called the opportunity “the highlight of my literal life.” The band has gained international fame with their energetic live performances.

Melbourne Plans Special Tribute

Melbourne City Council wants to recreate AC/DCโ€™s famous 1976 Itโ€™s a Long Way to the Top music video, filmed on a flatbed truck in the city. Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece said:

“Liverpool has the Beatles, Manchester has Oasis, and Swanston Street has AC/DC. Weโ€™ll approach the band to perform on that famous flatbed truck again.”

However, Brian Johnson has not performed the song since Bon Scottโ€™s death in 1980. The council may proceed with a tribute act if AC/DC declines.

Tickets go on sale June 26 through:

  • Ticketek (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane)
  • Ticketmaster (Adelaide)

Prices are expected to range from $120 to $350, with VIP packages offering premium seating and exclusive merchandise.
