HBO has a long history of ruining wedding days, and Euphoria just added its name to that list. Euphoria Season 3, Episode 3 delivered the wedding of Nate Jacobs and Cassie Howard, but what should have been a lavish celebration turned into a nightmare of violence and bloodshed. The episode, which aired on April 26, 2026, left viewers comparing the shocking sequence to Game of Thrones’ infamous Red Wedding.
The couple finally tied the knot after weeks of buildup. Cassie got her dream wedding with $50,000 worth of flowers, an ice sculpture of the happy couple, and a guest list that included almost everyone from their past. But the fairy tale ended the moment they returned home. Debt collectors were waiting, and what followed was one of the most brutal scenes in the show’s history.

A Wedding Night That Turned Into a Horror Movie
The trouble started at the reception. Naz, a loan shark played by Jack Topalian, showed up uninvited to remind Nate about the money he owes. Nate is reportedly in debt for more than $500,000 after a failed real estate project. Cassie had no idea about any of this until Naz confronted them in front of everyone.
Despite the tension, the couple managed to finish the reception. They left in a stretch Hummer, and Nate carried Cassie across the threshold of their home. That’s when things went very wrong. Naz and his men were waiting inside. They knocked Cassie down and started beating Nate. The violence escalated until Naz pulled out a pair of clippers and cut off Nate’s pinky toe while Cassie watched and screamed.
Fans immediately drew comparisons to the Red Wedding from Game of Thrones Season 3, where a massive bloodbath at a wedding feast killed several main characters. While no one died in the Euphoria episode, the shock value and brutality were on a similar level.
“Haven’t seen such a disastrous wedding since The Red Wedding,” one viewer wrote on X.
“Cassie and Nate’s wedding was easily the second most chaotic wedding in television history only after the Red Wedding from GoT,” another person added.
The actor who played Naz told Page Six that filming the toe-cutting scene required careful work. The clippers had very sharp edges, and he had to place them around Jacob Elordi’s actual toe. “If I squeezed a little too hard, it would literally cut his toe,” Topalian said. “But everything turned out well. There were no mishaps, no accidents.”
Fans Are Divided Over the Extreme Violence
Not everyone appreciated the graphic nature of the scene. Many viewers took to social media to express discomfort with how far the show went.
“I know they love shock value on this show, but wow… I didn’t need to see all that,” one X user wrote.
“Did they really have to film the toe thing… ew bruh,” a viewer commented on Reddit.
Others found dark humor in the situation. Some viewers laughed at Cassie’s reaction, noting that she seemed more upset about her ruined wedding day than about her husband getting beaten and mutilated.
“Sydney Sweeney’s acting was perfect this episode… the scene of her crying for selfish reasons while ignoring Nate being beaten to a pulp was comedy,” one fan argued.
Some fans had expected something different. Several viewers thought the episode might mimic Succession’s chaotic wedding episodes, which featured shocking deaths and betrayals. Instead, Euphoria went for pure horror.
“I was hoping this episode would have the same potential as Connor’s wedding in the last season of Succession, but I forgot this is Euphoria,” one person complained on X.

While the wedding took center stage, the episode also advanced other storylines. Jules, played by Hunter Schafer, reunited with both Nate and his father Cal at the wedding. Cal apologized for secretly recording his encounter with Jules back in season one. He told her he ended up on the sex offenders registry after getting caught.
The episode opened with a flashback showing how Jules became a sugar baby while attending art school. Her arrangement with a plastic surgeon named Ellis took a disturbing turn when he wrapped her in plastic wrap and said, “I just might keep you forever.”
Rue, played by Zendaya, continued her criminal work at the strip club. She is now selling guns and helping her boss get revenge on a rival drug dealer. The episode ended with Rue being stopped by a man who revealed himself as a DEA agent.
Fez’s Phone Call Made Some Fans Uncomfortable
A brief scene in the episode also stirred up strong feelings. Rue received a phone call from Fez, her friend who is serving a 30-year prison sentence. The character is played by the late Angus Cloud, who died in 2023 at age 25. Only Rue’s voice was heard during the call.
Some viewers found the scene unsettling and questioned whether the show should keep referencing a deceased actor’s character.
“I’m sorry but the fake Fez interactions are of bad taste,” one fan wrote on X.
“Yeah no this Fez scene is garbage, he’s dead allow Angus Cloud to live in heavenly peace,” another person added.
Other viewers appreciated that the show kept Fez’s character alive in the story. “I love how they still found a way to include Fez,” said a fan.
New episodes of Euphoria Season 3 air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and Max. The season is widely reported to be the show’s final one.
