The first trailer for Jonathan Majors‘ new movie has arrived, and it is already creating a significant buzz online. The former Marvel star, who was dropped from the MCU after his 2023 assault conviction, is making his return in a project that seems designed to ignite the culture wars. The film, titled “Run Hide Fight: Infidels, is produced by conservative commentator Ben Shapiro’s media company, The Daily Wire. Given the state of Majors’ career in mainstream Hollywood, this partnership appears to be a calculated move to leverage his controversial image for attention.

Majors, once positioned as a major star following roles in “Creed III” and “Lovecraft Country,” was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment in December 2023. After being dropped by Marvel and other studios, he was widely seen as “canceled” by the entertainment industry. Now, he has aligned himself with a conservative production company known for embracing actors who have faced backlash in Hollywood. This is a pattern for The Daily Wire, which previously gave roles to Armie Hammer and Gina Carano after their respective scandals.

A Plot Designed to Provoke

The film’s plot is a direct appeal to a specific, right-wing audience and seems built to attract outrage from the left. The official logline reads like a deliberately inflammatory fantasy. It describes a scenario where “radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college’s pro-Palestine encampment to enforce barbaric Sharia law on students and execute infidels,” forcing a “ragtag band of red-blooded students” and a Delta Force vet (played by Majors) to save the day.

The trailer begins with a jarring montage of real-world footage. It features clips from the September 11, 2001 attacks, images from campus protests related to the Israel-Gaza war, and soundbites from Fox News hosts. It ends with a shocking image of an ISIS flag flying over a college campus as the Islamic call to prayer plays, with the tagline: “Coming soonโ€ฆ Or already here?”

Producer Dallas Sonnier has defended the film, arguing that the pro-Palestine movement “deserves to be mocked in a movie again” and that Hollywood has been captured by a “woke mind virus.” He also stated that Majors is “totally 1,000% behind it” and confirmed the actor will do press for the film.

A Troubled Production

The production of the film was not without its own controversies. In April, video surfaced of Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne falling through a window during a stunt. While Majors appeared unharmed, Kilcoyne required stitches for his injuries. This incident reportedly led to safety concerns and a crew walkout, with the union IATSE calling for a strike against the production. Producer Sonnier dismissed the concerns, calling the striking workers “communists” and stating he doesn’t “negotiate with communists.”

An Unlikely Business Partnership

The partnership between Jonathan Majors and The Daily Wire appears to be a case of mutual need. Majors needs a platform to rebuild his career, and The Daily Wire is looking to bolster its entertainment offerings with a high-profile star. The film, budgeted at $5 million, is set to debut on The Daily Wire+ streaming platform this fall. This release strategy ensures that the film reaches its target audience directly, bypassing the traditional Hollywood system that has largely shunned Majors. It is a bold strategy that uses the very controversy surrounding the actor to generate marketing and interest.
