Lewis Hamilton, a co-chair of the event, wore a custom Wales Bonner ivory suit with symbolic details like cowrie shells and African-inspired jewelry. Despite his thoughtful look, Lewis Hamilton ranked lower than Khan and Diljit Dosanjh, another Indian star who placed third with a Prabal Gurung-designed Sikh-inspired outfit.
Bad Bunny’s Prada look, inspired by Puerto Rican culture, earned him a top-five finish. His brown suit, raffia tie, and crystal gloves paid tribute to Afro-Caribbean heritage. Meanwhile, Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton was the top brand with $55.2 million in MIV.
The Met Gala’s theme, “Tailored for You,” celebrated Black dandyism and menswear. The event generated significant impact. Shah Rukh Khan’s win highlights the growing influence of global stars in fashion.
“I told Sabya I only wear black and white, but what we designed for me is what I’m most comfortable in,” Khan said about his outfit.
“Lewis really wanted there to be a reason and a story behind every detail,” said his stylist, Eric McNeal, explaining the symbolism in Hamilton’s look.
Fans reacted strongly to the rankings. Some felt Lewis Hamilton was overshadowed, while others celebrated Khan’s historic win.
