The anime adaptation of the hit Korean webtoon Tomb Raider King finally arrives this July. Fans of Solo Leveling have been waiting for a new action-packed dungeon-crawler series, and this show looks to fill that gap. The series officially debuts on July 8, 2026, in Japan. With a star voice cast and a thrilling revenge story, it is already one of the most talked-about anime releases of the summer.

The show adapts the web novel by SAN.G, which was turned into a popular webtoon by Redice Studio and illustrator 3B2S. The story follows Jooheon Suh, a tomb raider who gets betrayed and killed, only to wake up 15 years in the past. He uses his memories of the future to hunt down powerful relics and get his revenge.

Fans Compare Tomb Raider King to Solo Leveling Even Before Release

Ever since the first trailer dropped, fans on social media have called Tomb Raider King a “copy” of Solo Leveling. The comparison makes sense. Both are Korean action webtoons with overpowered main characters and game-like power systems. The visual style also looks very similar, with dark contrasts and sharp character designs.

But the creators say there are major differences. Jooheon Suh is not a weak underdog like Sung Jinwoo. He starts as an expert who already knows the future. The story is less about struggling to survive and more about getting revenge and collecting magical relics. The tone is also different. Tomb Raider King has a more satirical and cocky sense of humor, while Solo Leveling plays things very straight and serious.

One fan on social media wrote: “It looks exactly like Solo Leveling, but that is not a bad thing. I need more of this genre.” Another commenter said: “People calling it a copy don’t understand that both webtoons started in 2016. They came out at the same time.”

Jujutsu Kaisen Star Junichi Suwabe Leads the Voice Cast

The Japanese voice cast for Tomb Raider King is packed with big names. Junichi Suwabe, who voices the King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, will play the main villain Taisei Oogawara. Yoshimasa Hosoya voices the lead character Ryoga Goriki (the Japanese name for Jooheon Suh).

Other cast members include Saori Hayami as Irene Holton, Miyu Irino as Kotaro Yanagi, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Noboru Kureha. The Korean girl group QWER performs the opening theme song “Show Down.” The song is the group’s first anime tie-up and will feature Japanese lyrics.

Release Date and Streaming Details for Global Audiences

Tomb Raider King premieres in Japan on July 8, 2026. It airs on Fuji TV’s “B8station” programming block. The exact air time is 25:15 JST, which is effectively July 9 at 1:15 AM in Japan. The series will run for a total of 11 episodes.

A special “world premiere” event takes place on June 13, 2026. The first two episodes will screen at the Science Hall in Tokyo. A live stream of the event and a cast stage greeting will also be available on the Kadokawa Anime YouTube channel.

Global streaming details have not been officially confirmed yet. Based on similar releases, fans expect the show to appear on Crunchyroll shortly after the Japanese broadcast. Other possible platforms include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or Hulu. For viewers in India, Crunchyroll or Amazon Prime Video are the most likely options. Australian fans usually get access through Crunchyroll or AnimeLab. UK and Canadian viewers should check Crunchyroll for updates.

Story Background: Relics, Tombs, and a 15-Year Time Jump

The world of Tomb Raider King is unique. Mysterious tombs suddenly appear all over the Earth. Inside these tombs, people find “relics”โ€”ancient items that give the owner superhuman abilities. This creates a new type of professional: the tomb raider. These raiders hunt for relics to gain power and money.

The main character, Jooheon Suh, is one of the best in the business. But his employer betrays him. He is shot and left for dead. As he dies, a powerful new relic activates. When he wakes up, he is 15 years in the past. He is back in a time before any tombs or relics existed. Now, he uses his perfect memory of the future to hunt down the most powerful relics before anyone else can find them.
