The Story of Kagurabachi

For those unfamiliar with the source material, Kagurabachi is a neo-Japanese sword action series written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono. It has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2023 and has already surpassed 4 million copies in circulation.

The story follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a boy who aspired to become a swordsmith under the tutelage of his father, the legendary swordsmith Kunishige Rokuhira. Their peaceful life is shattered when a mysterious sorcerer organization known as the Hishaku attacks, killing Chihiro’s father and stealing the six Enchanted Blades—swords of immense power capable of shaping the nation’s fate.

Armed with the seventh Enchanted Blade, Enten, the only sword left behind by his father, Chihiro sets out on a blood-soaked path of revenge to recover the stolen blades and avenge his father’s death.

Why the Hype Keeps Growing

Since its manga debut in 2023, Kagurabachi has become one of Shonen Jump‘s most talked-about properties. While initial hype was fueled by internet memes and jokes, the series has since won over serious fans with its gorgeous art, breathtaking sword-fight sequences, and surprisingly layered storytelling.

The first chapter alone—which this anime premiere will adapt—sent the manga fandom into a frenzy, praising the revenge-driven premise and the emotional weight behind Chihiro’s quest.

With a stellar production team, an award-winning voice actor, and a world tour that brings the anime to fans months before its official release, Kagurabachi is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated anime of 2027.
