What Happened Before War of the Three Titans Arc
The premiere picks up right after the brutal conflict between the Tokyo Manji Gang and Tenjiku. That battle ended with Izana Kurokawa killed by Kisaki’s bullet, and Kisaki himself hit by a truck and killed shortly after. Takemichi Hanagaki told Mikey the truth about his time leaping, and Mikey took the words to heart. He declared the Tokyo Manji Gang dissolved, ending the legendary organization that had reached the top of Japan.
Takemichi returns to the future expecting everything to be fixed. Hinata Tachibana is alive in that timeline. The catch is that Mikey is gone, having become the head of Bonten, a massive criminal syndicate. Takemichi decides to leap back to 2008 one more time to save Mikey from that fate.
Who Are the Three Titans in War of the Three Titans Arc
The era of the Three Titans begins with three rival gangs fighting for control of Tokyo. Kanto Manji Gang is led by Mikey. Brahman is headed by Senju Kawaragi. Rokuhara Tandai is under South Terano.
Senju runs Brahman under heavy pressure, while South pushes Rokuhara Tandai toward direct conflict with the other gangs. Mikey’s unstable state creates constant tension. The trailers have also shown older versions of Mikey and Haruchiyo Sanzu twelve years in the future, leaning into the manga’s time skip.

New Staff and Cast for the Final Season
Maki Kodaira takes over as director from Koichi Hatsumi, who led the first three seasons. Hatsumi stays on for series composition cooperation with returning writer Yasuyuki Muto. LIDENFILMS continues animation production.
The main cast returns with Yuki Shin as Takemichi Hanagaki, Yu Hayashi as Manjiro “Mikey” Sano, Azumi Waki as Hinata Tachibana, Mariya Ise as Senju Kawaragi, Hiroki Yasumoto as South Terano and Shō Karino as Chifuyu Matsuno. The opening theme is IGNITE by JO1, and the ending theme is TRICK STAR by vanillas.
“The conflict with Tenjiku came to an end when Izana was killed by Kisaki’s bullet, and Kisaki himself was hit by a truck and killed,” the official synopsis reads. “Takemichi once again explained to Mikey that he was a time traveler and recounted each of the events he had experienced.”
“Mikey took Takemichi’s words to heart and declared the dissolution of the Tokyo Manji Gang. Thus, the legendary organization that had reached the top of Japan came to an end.”
What to Remember Before Watching Episode 1
The single most important fact to keep in mind is that Mikey knows the truth about Takemichi’s time leaping. The dissolution of Toman was not a normal gang breakup; it came from Mikey understanding what Takemichi had been doing across timelines. That knowledge hangs over every scene in the new season.
Hinata is alive in the future Takemichi reaches at the start of this arc. That has been his goal since the very first episode. The fact that her survival came with Mikey’s disappearance is the central problem the War of the Three Titans arc is built to solve.
The new season is also a platform shift for many viewers. Anyone who followed the series through the Christmas Showdown and Tenjiku arcs on other services will need a Disney+ subscription to see how the story ends.
