Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but they have only worked together once in their careers. The actors shared the screen in the 1994 movie Interview with the Vampire. Now, Pitt has revealed the one condition that would make him work with Cruise again.
Pitt recently joked that he would only team up with Cruise if the stunts were “on the ground.” Cruise is famous for doing dangerous stunts in his movies, especially in the Mission: Impossible series. He even set a Guinness World Record for performing 16 burning parachute jumps in Mission: Impossible โ The Final Reckoning.
“Well, Iโm not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and shit like that,” Pitt told E! News. “So when he does something again thatโs on the ground, [then yes].”
Pitt is currently promoting his new racing movie, F1, where he plays a retired Formula 1 driver. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also worked with Cruise on Top Gun: Maverick. Interestingly, Kosinski once wanted to cast both Pitt and Cruise in Ford v Ferrari, but the studio rejected the idea due to budget concerns.
“Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled,” Kosinski told GQ. “They both have the natural talent for driving. But yeah, I could see Tom maybe scaring us a little bit more.”
While Mission: Impossible โ The Final Reckoning is still playing in theaters, Pitt’s F1 is set to release on June 27, 2025. The movie follows Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former racer who returns to the track to mentor a young driver. The film has real Formula 1 drivers and teams involved, making it one of the most authentic racing movies ever made.
Pitt trained for months to prepare for his role. He even drove at speeds up to 180 mph during filming. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer praised Pitt’s driving skills, saying, “He’s an amazing driver. In fact, some of the F1 drivers said he’s a natural athlete.”
Despite their busy schedules, fans still hope to see Pitt and Cruise reunite on screen. However, given Pitt’s reluctance to do extreme stunts, it seems unlikely unless Cruise decides to take on a less risky project. For now, both actors are focused on their upcoming films.
Mission: Impossible โ The Final Reckoning has already earned over $500 million worldwide. Meanwhile, F1 is expected to be a major hit when it releases next month. Both movies showcase the actors’ dedication to their craft, even if their approaches to stunts are very different.
