The second season of Apple TV+’s Platonic concluded with its tenth episode, titled Brett Coyote’s Last Stand,” on October 1, 2025. The finale placed Will on the verge of losing his dream business, Shitty Little Bar, while also resolving key tensions in Sylvia and Charlie’s marriage, ultimately setting the stage for a new chapter in the central friendship.

Will’s Business Dream Faces a Major Threat

The core conflict of the finale revolved around Will’s bar, Shitty Little Bar. Just as the opening was approaching, his past came back to haunt him. His ex-fiancรฉe and former boss, Jenna, who owns the Johnny 66 chain, served him with a non-compete agreement. This legal notice threatened to shut down his bar before it could even open, leaving Will devastated and seemingly out of options.

This professional crisis coincided with Will’s ongoing personal chaos. After his breakup with Jenna, he was bouncing between friends’ couches, eventually wearing out his welcome. He briefly lived with his friend Katie, a situation that ended after they hooked up and she used her “clinginess” to make him leave. He then moved in with Reggie, but a fight over his new obsession with Celsius energy drinks left him homeless once again.

A Solution Emerges at Charlie’s Party

At his lowest point, Will reconciled with Sylvia after their own major fight. Sylvia encouraged him to confront Jenna directly to get the non-compete dropped. However, the meeting did not go as planned. Will and Jenna had sex in her office, after which she told him to “go to hell” and refused to void the agreement.

The real solution appeared at a book launch party for Charlie’s self-published novel, Mediation Season. In a room full of lawyers, Will asked for advice. Charlie and his former colleague, Stewart, explained that while it was hard to escape the non-compete, there was a potential workaround: Will could partner with someone else who would be the public “face” of the business. This would render the non-compete null and void.

Without hesitation, Will looked at Sylvia. Surprised at first, Sylvia eventually agreed. The two friends decided to become business partners, with Sylvia officially fronting Shitty Little Bar.

Co-creator Francesca Delbanco explained the storytelling potential: “As much as we would all love to hang out with our friends, it doesnโ€™t dovetail with the life of an adult in their midlife. This way, it gives Sylvia and Will an excuse to be together all day, every day.”

Sylvia and Charlie Mend Their Marriage

While Will’s professional life was in turmoil, Sylvia was also at a crossroads. Her new career as an in-house event planner required constant travel, which left her lonely and missing her family. Meanwhile, her husband, Charlie, was struggling with writer’s block after quitting his law firm to become a novelist.

The couple managed to reconcile during a heartfelt conversation while trading in their old family minivan. They both acknowledged their mistakesโ€”Charlie for not consulting Sylvia before quitting his job, and Sylvia for not being more supportive of his writing. Sylvia then organized a book party for Charlie, showing her belief in him.

This support helped Charlie realize that he missed working and that writing could be a hobby. He decided to return to his law career, bringing their family dynamic back into a more stable balance.

What This Means for Will and Sylvia

The finale sets up a significant new dynamic for a potential third season. By going into business together, Will and Sylvia’s friendship will be tested in a completely new way. Sylvia, who does not even like beer, plans to add wine to the menu, and she will technically be Will’s boss.

Seth Rogen shared his thoughts on the characters’ constant struggles: “Itโ€™s like a de-evolution. Thatโ€™s much better for comedy than evolving, generally speaking. They somehow found a way to put us both in worse positions than we were last season.”

The episode ends with Will and Sylvia laughing and asking, “What could possibly go wrong?”โ€”teasing the comedic chaos that would likely follow in a future season. As of now, Apple TV+ has not officially announced a third season of Platonic.
