The explosive season 3 finale of The Morning Show brought major shifts for everyone at UBA. Alex Levy made a stunning move to save the network, Bradley Jackson confronted her past, and Paul Marks’ true nature was finally revealed. The episode set the stage for a completely new future at the morning news program.
Alex Levy’s Shocking Discovery
Alex’s belief in her boyfriend, tech billionaire Paul Marks, shattered in the final episode. After a conversation with a paranoid Bradley, Alex began to suspect Paul was secretly watching Bradley. To test her theory, Alex sent Bradley a text suggesting she go to Hanover, a town that was not Bradley’s actual hometown. When Paul later mentioned “Hanover” in conversation, Alex had the proof she needed. He had taken the bait, confirming he was spying on Bradley’s communications. The realization hit Alex hard, and she broke down in her closet, understanding she was involved with a man who would invade a journalist’s privacy.
This discovery forced Alex to make a difficult choice. She could not support Paul’s plan to buy and take apart UBA. She turned to Laura Peterson for help, and together they conceived an alternative plan. They proposed that UBA should not be sold to Hyperion, but should instead merge with Laura’s network, NBN. This move would combine two legacy media companies to ensure their survival. Alex’s decision to stop Paul marked a significant turn for her character, showing she would protect her professional world and her friend.
The Downfall of Paul Marks
Paul Marks entered the season as a charming savior for the struggling UBA, but his true intentions became clear. His plan was always to buy the network and sell its valuable parts for profit, a move that would have cost thousands of people their jobs. His unethical methods included spying on Bradley and leaking a false story about Cory to damage his reputation.
Paul’s scheme finally collapsed during the UBA board vote. Just as he was about to win, Alex interrupted with her merger proposal. She then led him into a meeting with Stella Bak and Kate Danton, a former Hyperion employee. Kate revealed that Paul had ordered her to cut the transmission of the Hyperion rocket launch to hide a critical navigation system failure. He then hacked UBA to cover up the failure and sent false data to NASA. With this evidence exposed, Paul had no choice but to withdraw his offer to buy UBA. His professional life was in ruins, and his relationship with Alex was over.
Paul tells Alex, “You’ll hear from my lawyers.”
Bradley Jackson’s Final Choice
Bradley’s storyline throughout the season involved the heavy secret of her brother Hal’s involvement in the January 6 Capitol attack. She had hidden evidence of his assault on a police officer, a federal crime. The weight of this secret, combined with Paul’s blackmail, led her to resign from UBA on live television.
The finale showed Bradley deciding to stop running from her actions. In the final scene, accompanied by her brother Hal and with Alex by her side, she walked into an FBI building to confess. This decision was linked to her childhood, shown in a flashback, where she also had to turn in her father for a crime. Bradley realized that by not holding her brother accountable, she was repeating a painful family cycle. Her confession puts her future as a journalist and her freedom at risk, but it was a step she felt she had to take for her own integrity.
Cory Ellison’s Last Stand and Emotional Goodbye
Cory Ellison spent the finale desperately trying to stop Paul’s takeover of UBA. He worked with Cybil to turn shareholders against the deal and sought a large loan to create a financial alternative. For a moment, it seemed he might succeed, especially after Chip’s passionate on-air rant against Paul swayed some board members. However, Paul outmaneuvered him by secretly winning over Cory’s financial backer. Cory’s plan failed, leaving him defeated.
The episode also provided closure for Cory and Bradley’s complicated relationship. During a corporate investigation, Bradley testified that while Cory once told her he loved her, he never acted inappropriately. After their testimonies, they shared an emotional moment in a hallway where Bradley told Cory, “I’ll miss you.” Cory was visibly moved, and the moment felt like a significant goodbye for the two characters.
A New Beginning for UBA
With Paul Marks gone, UBA’s future was secured through the proposed merger with NBN. However, this new beginning comes with uncertainty. A merger often means layoffs and major restructuring, leaving employees like Stella and Mia to wonder about their job security. The power structure is also set for a change. Cory’s position as CEO is unstable following the internal investigation and his failure to stop Paul. Alex Levy, having saved the company, is now in a powerful position to help shape the network’s future. The finale made it clear that UBA will be a very different place when the show returns.
