The cast of Physical: 100 is reuniting under the wide-open skies of Mongolia. In the new Netflix special Physical: Welcome to Mongolia, Korean contestants Amotti and Kim Dong-hyun travel to the homeland of their former competitors for an adventure. The show captures their journey as they try traditional foods, learn local sports, and experience nomadic culture firsthand.
During one of the specialโs highlight moments, the athletes try camel riding for the first time. Amotti had a memorable reaction to the unique experience, leading to a funny comparison that fans are talking about.
A Scenic Arrival and a Surprise Reunion
The adventure began with an unforgettable entrance. On their second day in Mongolia, their host, Orkhonbayar, surprised Amotti and Kim Dong-hyun with a helicopter tour over the countryโs snowy plains and mountains. For Kim Dong-hyun, it was his first time in a helicopter, and he admitted to being scared during the flight. From the air, they saw stunning landscapes and spotted wild animals like horses, camels, and sheep roaming below.
The helicopter landed at a remote camp, setting the stage for the dayโs activities. The camp was filled with traditional gers (yurts), horses, yaks, and camels, with locals dressed in colorful Mongolian attire. The scene felt like a step back in time. Kim Dong-hyun observed the setting and said, “When you look at them this way, they seem to belong to another era”.
The biggest surprise came when they recognized familiar faces in the crowd. They were thrilled to see Lkhagva-Ochir from Team Mongolia and Eddie Williams from Team Australia, who were also in the country. The reunion was emotional and unexpected. Kim Dong-hyun was so shocked he exclaimed, “I didnโt recognize Eddie at all! He looks totally Mongolian”. Eddie explained he was in Mongolia filming for another show, making the chance meeting even more special.
Amottiโs First Time on a Camel
After enjoying the surprise reunion, Orkhonbayar encouraged his guests to dive into Mongolian life. He helped Amotti get onto a horse, though Amotti confessed he was scared. Kim Dong-hyun opted to try riding a yak instead. Soon, their host suggested they switch to an even more iconic Mongolian animal: the Bactrian camel.
For Amotti, this was a completely new experience. As he looked at the camelโs large hump, he expressed his confusion to the cameras. “Wow, Iโve never been on a camel before. This hump thoughโฆ Itโs not meant to be a handle, right? This hump is so weird. Itโs so weird and hard”.
Once his camel stood up and began walking, Amottiโs nervousness turned to pleasant surprise. He and Kim Dong-hyun started discussing how the ride felt. Kim Dong-hyun pointed out that the camelโs hump created a naturally comfortable space to sit. Amotti agreed and made his now-famous observation, comparing the gentle, swaying motion to a luxury car. “It feels like riding a sedan”.
The two enjoyed the ride so much they took out their phones to film videos and take pictures while atop the camels. The entire experience, from the unusual hump to the smooth walk, became a joyful and memorable part of their trip.
A Deep Dive into Mongolian Traditions
The camel ride was just one part of a full day immersed in Mongolian culture. After dismounting, the group was welcomed into a local ger for a traditional meal. Kim Dong-hyun explained to Amotti that there were specific seating rules based on respect and tradition.
Their friend Ochir then presented them with beautiful traditional Mongolian costumes to wear, the kind worn during the summer Naadam festival. After changing, the group was treated to a special musical performance featuring traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing. The powerful music left a strong impression. Kim Dong-hyun said, “Wow, I couldnโt tell their voices apart. That was so coolโฆ it sounded majestic”.
The cultural immersion continued with a friendly but competitive archery match. Ochir explained the rules, noting that the loserโs punishment would be cleaning up after sheep. This added a fun stake to the game. In a confessional, Amotti shared that he felt the most pressure competing against the Mongolian team members because of their skilled and celebratory gestures. Kim Dong-hyun, feeling a sense of old rivalry from Physical: 100, approached the match with a competitive mindset and managed to hit two rings from the side.
