The penultimate episode of Power Book IV: Force, titled “War Requiem,” has left the streets of Chicago in absolute ruins. As the final season hurtles toward its series finale, the latest installment delivered a pair of devastating deaths that have permanently altered the landscape of the Power universe. With JP Gibbs and Diamond Sampson now gone, the fragile alliance between Tommy Egan and the Coalition has completely shattered, giving way to a vengeful, all-out war.

The Brutal Fall of JP Gibbs and the Fallout

The episode opens with the grim aftermath of JP Gibbs’ murder. Jenard Sampson, spiraling and fueled by drug use, was revealed to be the one who pulled the trigger on Tommy’s brother. This wasn’t just a business move; it was a panicked, impulsive act of violence that also claimed the lives of King Kilo and his associate Jojo.

Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) and D-Mac (Lucien Cambric) are left to pick up the pieces, both emotionally and physically. In a chilling scene, they visit the house to handle JP’s body, with D-Mac appearing numb but clearly broken by the loss of his father. Tommy, true to his nature, suppresses his grief in favor of cold, calculating rage. He heard the murder happen over the phone, and while Jenard tries to pin the blame on JP himself to stir up the RDs (Kilo’s gang) against Tommy, the truth is already out.

Diamond’s Final Choice and Tragic Sacrifice

For much of the hour, Diamond Sampson (Isaac Keys) is caught between his loyalty to his brother and his business partnership with Tommy. Jenard eventually confesses to Diamond that he killed JP, claiming he had to do it to save themselves. Rather than turning on his brother, Diamond makes the fateful decision to double down on family.

This loyalty leads to a massive confrontation inside a church, where Diamond and Jenard hide out, surrounded by their remaining CBI shooters. Tommy, aided by Shanti, who has been playing both sides, launches a full-scale assault on the sanctuary.

The chaos results in a tragic accident that fans did not see coming. As Tommy opens fire on Jenard, Diamond jumps in front of his brother, taking the bullets intended for the man who caused all this misery. Diamond Sampson, the more level-headed and strategic of the two brothers, dies on the church floor, sacrificing his life for a brother who has consistently put them both in danger.

D-Mac and Marshall: A Friendship Ends in Blood

While the elders are at war, the younger generation faces their own breaking point. Jenard tasks Marshall with killing his best friend, D-Mac, to satisfy the RDs. The tension between the two reaches a boiling point in a deeply uncomfortable scene.

“We brothers,” Marshall says, hesitating to pull the trigger.

But in the world of Force, brotherhood has a shelf life. D-Mac, realizing that survival is the only currency left, doesn’t wait for Marshall to find his nerve. He shoots and kills his childhood friend, marking his full transformation into a cold-blooded soldier. It is a haunting mirror of Tommy’s own path, proving that the cycle of violence in Chicago is far from over.

The Stage is Set for the Series Finale

The death of Diamond leaves CBI in tatters and Jenard alone, grieving and likely more dangerous than ever. Tommy is now fighting on multiple fronts, with the Marquez Cartel and Ortega still lurking in the shadows.

Adding to the tension, Tommy mentions “calling in a favor,” a line that has sparked intense rumors of a Tariq St. Patrick cameo in the upcoming finale. Meanwhile, Mireya is planning her escape to Mexico, and Kate Egan is back in the mix, forced to bury another son while dealing with an assault by Jenard.
