The banking floor is closed for business. As Industry Season 4 premieres on January 11, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max, the show sheds its Pierpoint skin to launch its characters into a higher-stakes, globe-trotting game of finance, power, and personal ambition. With eight new episodes airing weekly, the series evolves from a story about surviving a bank to a thriller about controlling the markets that move the world.
The New Battlefield: Fintech’s Disruptive Force
The core conflict of the new season orbits a disruptive new player: Tender, a “splashy fintech darling” aiming to become an all-in-one “bank in your pocket”. This payment processor, entering a aggressive growth phase, becomes the focal point that draws in every major character. The company is led by two formidable new figures: the enigmatic CFO and founder Whitney Halberstram, played by Max Minghella, and the CEO Jay Jonah Atterbury, portrayed by Kal Penn.
“Whitney enters the world of Industry brimming with ruthless ambition, a silver tongue and a mercurial past,” Minghella said of his character.
The arrival of Tender forces Harper Stern and Yasmin Kara-Hanani, once Pierpoint colleagues, into a direct “high-stakes, globetrotting cat-and-mouse game”. Their complex friendship, a constant through-line of the series, is tested as they find themselves on opposite ends of a major financial clash.
Where the Key Players Land
The dissolution of Pierpoint at the end of Season 3 has scattered the ensemble, pushing them into new and precarious positions.
Harper Stern (Myha’la) is working at Otto Mostynโs fund, but feels controlled and managed, eager to find a way out. Her path crosses with Whitney Halberstram, pulling her into Tender’s orbit. Meanwhile, she and her former mentor, Eric Tao (Ken Leung), explore a purely professional partnership, tentatively named SternTao, acknowledging that while they are powerful apart, together they could achieve “insane returns”.
Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) begins the season married to Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington), but their relationship is described as “spinning out of control”. Yasmin finds herself acting as a caregiver to a husband who resents needing her, leaving her emotionally adrift. She forges a path within Henry’s new company, and for the first time, gets to prove herself professionally and earn recognition.
Eric Tao is in a period of major personal transition, dealing with a marriage breakdown and co-parenting while hiding out away from the City. His professional future, potentially tied to Harper, is a major question mark.
Rishi Ramdani (Sagar Radia) and Sweetpea Golightly (Miriam Petche) also return, with Sweetpea continuing her working relationship with Harper at Mostyn Asset Management. Rishi, whose personal life ended in tragedy, must navigate the professional and personal consequences.
A Wave of New Faces
The expansion of the show’s world is underscored by a significant influx of new cast members, each representing different facets of the intersecting worlds of finance, tech, media, and politics.
- Kiernan Shipka joins as Hayley Clay, an executive assistant at Tender.
- Charlie Heaton plays Jim Dycker, a finance journalist.
- Toheeb Jimoh is Kwabena Bannerman, a trader at Mostyn Asset Management.
- Amy James-Kelly portrays Jennifer Bevan, a newly promoted Minister in the Labour government.
- Jack Farthing enters as Edward Smith, a troublemaking long-time friend of Henry Muck.
- Claire Forlani plays Cordelia Hanani-Spyrka, a corporate PR heavy-hitter.
Departures and the End of an Era
The move beyond Pierpoint comes with notable absences. Harry Lawtey will not return as Robert Spearing, with the actor and writers agreeing the character’s journey reached a fitting conclusion in Season 3. Additionally, Conor MacNeill’s Kenny Kilbane departed with the bank itself at the end of last season. There has been no confirmation on the return of David Jonsson as Gus Sackey..

Behind the Scenes: A Confident Step Forward
The creative team, led by creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, remains deeply involved, with both taking on directing duties this season alongside Michelle Savill and Luke Snellin. The cast has described the new season as “darker” and “funnier” with “higher stakes”.
The actors have spoken about the unique experience of welcoming so many new characters into the established ensemble. Myha’la noted that every new actor who joins is a fan of the show, which creates a shared passion for the work. Marisa Abela added that the core relationships ground the show, allowing them to “be really playful” with the new characters.
