Mike Colter accidentally reveals set images with Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll before quickly deleting them, pointing to a full team-up in the Marvel series.
A quick social media slip has given Marvel fans a big reason to get excited. Mike Colter, who plays Luke Cage, posted and then quickly removed photos on Instagram that seem to confirm his return for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. The now-deleted images show Colter standing next to Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) on what looks like a prison set. Cox is seen wearing an orange jumpsuit, which hints at a dramatic turn for the character in the upcoming episodes.
While the post did not stay up for long, fans were fast enough to take screenshots. The pictures spread across social media within minutes. This accidental reveal comes just as Season 2 continues to air weekly on Disney+. The deleted post has now turned into the biggest talking point for viewers who are eager to see where the story goes next.
Set Photos and Social Media Slip Confirm Filming
Colter’s Instagram post included several images. One main photo that caught attention featured a group selfie with Finn Jones (Iron Fist) and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones). In the caption, Colter simply wrote, “Been a while….” Jones responded in the comments, saying, “Well, guess the cat’s out of the bag…”.
Earlier set photos from New York City had already shown Colter and Jones filming alongside Ritter. These images confirmed that all three actors are actively working on the third season. With Ritter already set to appear in Season 2, her presence on the Season 3 set makes the reunion feel complete. The photos point to a full gathering of the original Defenders team from the Netflix era.
A Complete Defenders Reunion Takes Shape
If the rumors hold true, Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 will bring back the four main street-level heroes. This includes Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. This marks the first time all four actors will share the screen together since The Defenders miniseries released in 2017.
The return of these characters has been a long time coming. Marvel Studios originally planned to restart the story without connecting to the Netflix shows. However, after showrunner Dario Scardapane took over, the direction changed. The team decided to build on what worked before. Bringing back Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones in Season 2 was the first step. Now, adding Luke Cage and Iron Fist for Season 3 turns the show into a true reunion for fans of the older series.

Mike Colter Previously Teased His Marvel Comeback
This news did not come out of nowhere. Colter had hinted at his return in earlier interviews. On the Inside of You podcast, he talked about his talks with Marvel. “I’ve had discussions with Marvel,” Colter said. “I do think that it’s very, very likely that I will come back at some point, but I don’t know when. But I think I will.”
Look, I mean, here’s the thing, I have been talking to Marvel, and Jessica’s back, and there’s a lot of story left to tell. And I just think that it’d be a shame for me not to pop back up.
His recent set appearance confirms that the time has come for Luke Cage to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Colter first played the character in Jessica Jones before starring in his own solo series, which ran for two seasons on Netflix.
Season 3 Prison Storyline and What to Expect
The deleted photo showing Charlie Cox in a prison outfit has led to many guesses about the plot for Season 3. The image file was even named “s3-e1: The Devil in Cell Block D.” This suggests that the third season might open with Matt Murdock behind bars. Having Luke Cage, who is known for surviving prison, by his side would make perfect sense for the story.
While Marvel has not officially confirmed the casting of Colter or Jones for Season 3, the visual proof is hard to ignore. The third season is currently filming in New York. Meanwhile, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is streaming right now on Disney+. New episodes arrive every Tuesday.
