Podcaster Ray Daniels expressed shock and disappointment after Kendrick Lamar received massive support from fans in Toronto—Drake’s hometown—during his recent concert. Lamar performed his hit diss track “Not Like Us“, which targets Drake, and the crowd gave him a two-minute standing ovation followed by chants for an encore .
Daniels, speaking on his show “Ray Daniels Presents”, said he was stunned that Canadian fans showed so much love to Lamar despite his ongoing feud with Drake. He claimed that if he were in Drake’s position, he would be extremely upset.
“If I’m Drake, I am killing everybody. Everybody can go down, nobody spared. I can’t believe Canada showed up for [Kendrick Lamar]. That shocked me.”
The concert took place on June 12 and 13 at Rogers Centre as part of Lamar and SZA’s “The Grand National Tour”. The crowd’s reaction was seen as a major moment in the long-running rap feud between Drake and Lamar, which has dominated headlines since 2024 and spilled into 2025 .
Daniels suggested that Toronto fans should have given Lamar “the loudest silence” instead of cheering for him. He argued that Drake, often called “the 6ix God” by locals, has done a lot for the city and deserved more loyalty.
“Let’s give him the loudest silence he has ever gotten. That’s what I would have done. I would’ve did that just to show. Cos Drake is their king, and so when the Canadians didn’t do that, I was really, I was like, ‘We live in a new world.’”
He also claimed that Drake has been “too good” to Toronto to receive this kind of treatment.
“They shouldn’t have done that. He didn’t deserve that. He’s been too good to Toronto, he’s been too good to Canada, and they shouldn’t fking sing that word. They shouldn’t have done that.”
Meanwhile, Drake indirectly responded to the situation by calling out Canadian politician Jagmeet Singh, who attended Lamar’s concert. Drake sent Singh a message on Instagram calling him “a goof” .
Singh later apologized, saying he went for SZA, not Lamar, and admitted he shouldn’t have attended at all.
“I went for SZA, not Kendrick. I was born in this city, I love this city. But real talk, I get it. I shouldn’t have gone at all. OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and [Canada]. For me it’ll always be Drake over Kendrick.”
Reports also suggest that Drake’s team tried to cancel or delay Lamar’s Toronto tour dates to make room for his own OVO Fest, but the venue was already locked in .
Despite the tension, Lamar’s Toronto shows were among the top 5 best-selling stops on his tour, with high demand for tickets after Drake postponed a planned livestream with Kai Cenat .

Fan reactions online were mixed. Some defended Lamar, saying he has fans everywhere, while others criticized Toronto for not standing by Drake.
“I mean Kendrick gonna have fans from Toronto. Just like Drake got fans in LA. Shit folks can not like the hometown hero. Hell yall don’t even like your neighbors.”
Others pointed out Drake’s global influence, especially in regions like Africa.
“In Africa 90% of the population don’t even know who Kendrick is. But a 4-year-old would sing you a whole album of Drake. In Africa we don’t love folk music cus of their color or origin, we just love good music and that’s final.”
