The 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards were held on September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Comedian Nate Bargatze hosted the ceremony, which was broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. The big winners of the night included Apple TV+โ€™s comedy The Studio, Netflixโ€™s limited series Adolescence, and HBO Maxโ€™s medical drama The Pitt. Several historic milestones were achieved, including Tramell Tillman becoming the first Black actor to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Severance.

Outstanding Drama Series

The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series, beating strong contenders like Severance, The Last of Us, and The White Lotus. The HBO Max show, which follows the high-pressure environment of a hospital, also earned wins for its lead actor and supporting actress.

Outstanding Comedy Series

The Studio, an Apple TV+ series created by and starring Seth Rogen, won Outstanding Comedy Series. The show, which satirizes the entertainment industry, set a record for the most wins by a comedy series in a single season, with 13 awards including those from the Creative Arts Emmys.

Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series

Netflixโ€™s Adolescence won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The show, which explores the complexities of growing up, also earned awards for its lead actor, supporting actor, supporting actress, directing, and writing.

Acting Awards in Drama

Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Pitt. Britt Lower won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in Severance.

In the supporting categories, Tramell Tillman made history by becoming the first Black actor to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Severance. Katherine LaNasa won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Pitt, in what was considered a surprise victory.

Acting Awards in Comedy

Seth Rogen won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for The Studio. Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks, marking her fourth Emmy for the role and her seventh overall.

Jeff Hiller won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Somebody Somewhere, beating first-time nominee Harrison Ford. Hannah Einbinder won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks.

Acting Awards in Limited Series

Stephen Graham won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for Adolescence. Cristin Milioti won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for The Penguin.

Owen Cooper won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for Adolescence, making him the youngest male winner in any acting category in Emmy history. Erin Doherty won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for Adolescence.

Writing and Directing Awards

Dan Gilroy won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for Andor. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg won Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for The Studio. Philip Barantini won Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series for Adolescence.

Other Major Categories

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won Outstanding Talk Series, just two months after CBS announced its cancellation. The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Program. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver won Outstanding Scripted Variety Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.

SNL50: The Anniversary Special won Outstanding Variety Special (Live), bringing Saturday Night Liveโ€™s total Emmy wins to 112.
