After a period of fewer releases, Marvel Studios is building toward a major event in 2026, with several new movies and shows set to arrive. The schedule includes the much-awaited return of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and a new Disney+ series starring Paul Bettany’s Vision. These projects are part of the buildup to the next two Avengers films.
Spider-Man Swings Back into Theaters with a New Director
Tom Holland is officially returning as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. The film will be the fourth MCU Spider-Man movie starring Holland and the first in a new trilogy.
The movie will continue the story from Spider-Man: No Way Home, which ended with Doctor Strange’s spell making the world forget Peter Parker’s identity. The new film will follow Peter as he navigates this new lonely reality while protecting New York City from street-level crime.
Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is set to direct this new installment, taking over from Jon Watts. The script is being written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the writing team behind the previous Holland-led Spider-Man films.
Familiar faces are confirmed to return, including Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. They will be joined by new cast members like Sadie Sink, and actors reprising their roles from other Marvel projects, including Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, the Punisher, and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Daredevil.
VisionQuest Completes a Marvel Trilogy on Disney+
Arriving on Disney+ in late 2026, VisionQuest is an eight-episode miniseries that will complete the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along.
Paul Bettany reprises his role as the Vision, specifically the “White Vision” who was resurrected at the end of WandaVision. The series will follow his journey to reconnect with the memories and emotions from his past life.
“What’s different about Vision right now is that Red Vision gave Vision all of his memories… but White Vision is having real difficulty connecting to them,” Paul Bettany explained. “He has the memories, but he doesn’t have the emotions and the feelings, and I think that’s what the journey is.”
The show will feature many other artificial intelligences from the MCU. James Spader is returning as the menacing AI, Ultron, and will be a core part of the story. The cast also includes Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., and James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S.. Terry Matalas, known for Star Trek: Picard, is the showrunner and director for the series.
