At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards on January 11, 2026, Rhea Seehorn took home the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series โ€“ Drama. The win, for her role as Carol Sturka in the Apple TV+ sci-fi drama Pluribus, marked both her first nomination and first win at the Globes. She gave a funny and heartfelt acceptance speech, highlighted by her opening confession about trying to prepare for the moment.

Walking to the stage after being announced by presenters Dakota Fanning and Queen Latifah, Seehorn appeared genuinely shocked. She looked down at her notes and immediately set the honest tone for the rest of her time on stage.

โ€œMy speech says, โ€˜Get a prescription for beta blockers,โ€™ but I did not. Sorry!โ€ she said, drawing laughter from the audience. โ€œIโ€™m going to do my best. Iโ€™m sorry, I am just a little shocked!โ€

She also shared a warm memory with Queen Latifah, recalling a kind encounter with the star “about 20 years ago between jobs at a Koo Koo Roo”.

Gratitude for Fellow Nominees and Women in the Room

Her speech was filled with appreciation for those around her. She made a point to acknowledge each of her fellow nominees in a highly competitive category.

โ€œGetting your name read with Bella Ramsey, and Britt Lower, and Helen Mirren, and Kathy Bates, and Keri Russellโ€ฆ Iโ€™m astonished by all your performances,โ€ Seehorn said from the stage.

She also addressed the broader community of women in Hollywood, sharing a relatable sentiment about navigating the often-overwhelming awards season circuit. โ€œIโ€™ve been to a lot of these parties that get pretty scary for someone like me sometimes, and the women in this room have been incredible in the last couple of weeks. Thank you for thatโ€.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Creator Vince Gilligan

A central theme of Seehornโ€™s speech was her deep gratitude for Vince Gilligan, the creator of Pluribus and the mind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. She credited him with providing her a career-defining opportunity.

โ€œVince Gilligan, thank you for writing me the role of a lifetime,โ€ she said, scanning the crowd to find him. โ€œAnd even more than that, thank you for having belief in me that is beyond. You make me want to be better every day. I really appreciate itโ€.

She extended her thanks to the entire team behind the series, including the cast, crew, directors, writers, and producers, as well as Apple TV+ and Sony Pictures Television. โ€œIt takes an entire village. So thank you to my beautiful village,โ€ she said. She concluded by thanking her family, her partner Graham Larson, and the Golden Globes voting body, stating, โ€œIโ€™m still so grateful that I get to do this for a living, and this is incredible icing on that cakeโ€.

The Significance of the Win After “Better Call Saul” Snubs

For many fans and critics, Seehornโ€™s Golden Globe victory was seen as long-overdue recognition. Prior to Pluribus, she was best known for her critically acclaimed portrayal of lawyer Kim Wexler on Better Call Saul, a role for which she never received a Golden Globe nomination despite widespread praise.

Better Call Saul earned 54 Emmy nominations over its six-season run but famously never won a single award. Seehorn herself received two Emmy nominations for the role but did not win. Her Pluribus win, which follows a Criticsโ€™ Choice Award for the same role just one week earlier, is widely viewed as a correction to that years-long oversight.

The Success of Pluribus and Season 2 Update

Pluribus has been a major success for Apple TV+. The series, which debuted in late 2025, broke the record for the biggest global drama series launch on the platform across more than 100 territories. The show was also nominated for Best Television Series โ€“ Drama at the Golden Globes, though it lost to The Pitt.

During backstage interviews, Seehorn was asked about the status of the already-ordered second season. With her signature humility, she joked that the question was โ€œway above my pay gradeโ€. She confirmed that the writers’ room is active but does not have a production start date yet.

โ€œI know [Vince Gilligan] wants us to go as soon as possibleโ€ฆ but he wants to craft the show that he wants to craft with all the care for his fans,โ€ she told reporters. โ€œWeโ€™ll get back as fast as we can. I promise you thatโ€.

The 2026 Golden Globes ceremony, hosted for the second year by Nikki Glaser, aired live on CBS and was available for streaming on Paramount+ Premium.
