The long-rumored Yellowstone sequel starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser now has its confirmed title. During the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11, a teaser aired on CBS revealing the name ‘Dutton Ranch’ for the upcoming series. This finalizes the title after months of speculation and reports that used the working name ‘The Dutton Ranch.’. This is the second Yellowstone sequel to see a name adjustment, following the Kayce Dutton-led series, now titled ‘Marshals’.

The new show will follow fan-favorite couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they build a life away from the original Yellowstone ranch. Filming for the series began in August 2025 and is currently underway again in and around Fort Worth, Texas, targeting a premiere in 2026.

The Official Title Reveal and a First Look

The official confirmation came during a Golden Globes broadcast promo. The brief teaser showed Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser riding horses on a sunny day, giving fans their first visual hint of the new series. The clip was part of a larger look at Paramount’s future programming.

The title was simplified from the reported working name ‘The Dutton Ranch’ to simply ‘Dutton Ranch’. This minor change comes on the heels of a similar update for another Yellowstone sequel. The series following Luke Grimes’ character, Kayce Dutton, was originally announced as ‘Y: Marshals’ but will now premiere on CBS as simply ‘Marshals’ on March 1, 2026. CBS stated the ‘Y’ was always considered a silent part of a working title, though some industry speculation suggests it may relate to creator Taylor Sheridan’s planned future move from Paramount to NBCUniversal.

Interestingly, Cole Hauser had previously told an outlet the show would not be called ‘Dutton Ranch’.

“Well, first of all, it’s not ‘Dutton Ranch.’ That’s not the name of it,” Hauser said in a 2025 interview.

The official reveal confirms that plans changed between that interview and the Golden Globes announcement.

The Story and Setting of Dutton Ranch

The new series picks up after the events of the Yellowstone series finale. With the original Dutton family ranch sold, Beth and Rip have moved to a new, 7,000-acre property in Dillon, Montana. Their central struggle will be to protect and maintain this hard-won peace.

“Beth Dutton (Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) are grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch. With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter (Little) becomes the man he’s supposed to be”.

A major part of the story will focus on their roles as guardians to Carter, played by Finn Little, the young man they unofficially adopted in the original series. The show will explore the challenges of ranching, new rivals, and their efforts to build a stable family life.

The Expanding Cast and Production Status

Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser lead the cast, reprising their iconic roles. Finn Little returns as Carter. The series has also added significant new talent, including Ed Harris and Annette Bening. Harris’s character is described as a “good-humored veterinarian, as well as a veteran”. Other cast members include Jai Courtney, Natalie Alyn Lind, Marc Menchaca, Juan Pablo Raba, and JR Villareal.

Production is active. Following a start in August 2025, filming resumed in Fort Worth after a winter break. Local casting calls for extras confirm that shooting is currently happening. The show does not have a specific premiere date yet, but it is expected to be available on Paramount Network or Paramount+ sometime in 2026. With filming still ongoing, some reports suggest a release in the latter half of the year is more likely than early 2026.

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone Universe in 2026

‘Dutton Ranch’ is part of a larger expansion of Taylor Sheridan’s television universe in 2026.

  • Marshals: Premieres March 1, 2026, on CBS. Stars Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, who joins the U.S. Marshals. Features returning actors Brecken Merrill (Tate), Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), and Mo Brings Plenty (Mo).
  • The Madison: An upcoming series set in Montana but not featuring the Dutton family. It follows a New York family moving to the Madison River Valley. The cast is led by Michelle Pfeiffer and includes Kurt Russell and Patrick J. Adams. It is also aiming for a 2026 release.
