The Culling Game arc in Jujutsu Kaisen introduced viewers to a collection of powerful ancient sorcerers brought back to life. Among these revived fighters, Uro Takako stands out as one of the most skilled and complex opponents. She became a major obstacle for Yuta Okkotsu when he entered the Sendai Colony, creating one of the most intense three-way battles in the entire series.

Her abilities, her past, and her reasons for fighting make her a character worth understanding before the anime adaptation brings this fight to the screen.

A Sorcerer From a Thousand Years Ago

Uro Takako is not a modern sorcerer. She lived more than 1,000 years ago during the Heian period, often called the golden age of jujutsu. Back then, she served as the captain of the Sun, Moon, and Stars Squad, an elite assassination team that worked directly for the Toh, a branch of the powerful Fujiwara clan.

Her squad lived in darkness and gave up their names to serve the clan. A man from the Fujiwara family eventually gave her a name, only to betray her later. He framed her for a murder he committed himself, leading to her execution. This betrayal shaped her entire outlook on life and became the source of deep regret she carries into her second life.

In the present day, Kenjaku brings Uro back as part of the Culling Game. Like other ancient sorcerers, she agrees to become a cursed object and get incarnated into a new body, all to get another chance at life.

How Uro Became One of Sendai Colony’s Top Fighters

When the Culling Game starts, Uro establishes herself as one of the four strongest players in the Sendai Colony. She scores 70 points in just 12 days, putting her at the same level as Ryu Ishigori, the ancient sorcerer Dhruv Lakdawalla, and the special grade cursed spirit Kurourushi.

These four fighters reach a deadlock because their abilities counter each other in a specific way. Uro’s sky manipulation works well against Ryu’s powerful direct attacks but struggles against Kurourushi’s unpredictable, multi-angle strikes. Dhruv’s domain tactics keep Kurourushi in check, while Ryu can blow away Dhruv’s shikigami. This balance of power keeps everyone stuck until Yuta Okkotsu arrives and breaks the stalemate by killing Dhruv first.

Uro’s Sky Manipulation Cursed Technique Explained

Uro’s main power is a rare cursed technique that lets her treat the sky like a physical surface. She can grab empty space, pull it, twist it, and bend it as if she were handling a cloth.

This ability has several combat uses:

  • She can warp the space around her opponent’s attacks, redirecting punches or kicks without taking damage
  • When Yuta tries to hit her, she distorts the space around his arm, bending it like wrinkled fabric
  • She can stretch her own strikes further than normal by extending the space her attacks travel through

Her signature move is called Thin Ice Breaker. She captures the space where her opponent stands, then releases it with force, breaking it like thin ice and creating a powerful shockwave. This attack sends Yuta flying through the ground early in their fight.

The technique has limits. It only distorts space and does not directly harm the opponent unless Uro uses the breaking move. She also struggles against attacks coming from multiple directions at once, which explains why Kurourushi gave her trouble.

Uro’s Fight With Yuta Okkotsu in Sendai Colony

The battle in Sendai Colony begins after Yuta kills Kurourushi. Seeing the cockroach curse gone, Uro moves in immediately, attacking Yuta while he is tired from the previous fight.

She catches him off guard with her space manipulation, bending his punches and landing several hits. During the fight, she explains her technique to Yuta, which gives him time to analyze her abilities. But instead of attacking right away, Yuta starts asking her questions.

He wants to know why someone as strong as her would fight so desperately. Uro explains that for reincarnated sorcerers, this second life means everything. They came back from death, and appeasing past regrets is their first priority. She collects points to prepare for whatever Kenjaku might do next.

Yuta then asks if she has friends or a lover she is fighting for. He tells her he cannot understand why she would kill people just for selfish reasons. This question makes Uro angry. She calls him a Fujiwara, accusing him of coming from the same clan that betrayed her. The irony is that Yuta actually descends from the Sugawara clan, which rivaled the Fujiwara in the Heian period.

Before their argument goes further, Ryu Ishigori interrupts by firing a Granite Blast at both of them, turning the fight into a three-way battle.

The Three-Way Domain Expansion

The fight reaches its peak when all three fighters activate their domain expansions at the same time. Uro, Yuta, and Ryu all open their domains, creating a rare three-way barrier clash. Uro and Ryu work together briefly to keep Rika outside Yuta’s domain, preventing her from joining the fight.

But the arrival of Kurourushi’s offspring destabilizes all three domains. The cursed spirit attacks Uro and cuts off her left arm. Ryu then hits both her and Kurourushi with another Granite Blast, leaving her badly injured. Even after losing her arm, Uro stays ready to continue fighting until she passes out from the damage.

When she wakes, she accepts her defeat. She gives up all her points to Yuta, showing she respects the result of a fair fight.

Uro’s Connection to Sukuna and Her Final Fate

Uro has a history with Sukuna from her original life. A thousand years ago, Sukuna wiped out her entire Sun, Moon, and Stars Squad along with many other elite sorcerers. This explains why she trembles in fear later when she senses Sukuna’s presence in Sendai after he takes a bath and enters the colony.

Unlike Ryu, who later gets killed by Sukuna, Uro survives that encounter. Her fate after the Culling Game remains uncertain. Kenjaku later begins hunting down remaining players, but with Kenjaku neutralized after his fight with Takaba, Uro may still be alive somewhere.

What Makes Uro Takako a Memorable Opponent

Uro represents the kind of sorcerer who thrived in the Heian era—skilled, proud, and shaped by betrayal. Her ability to manipulate space makes her a difficult opponent for any fighter, even someone as powerful as Yuta. She fights with intelligence, waiting for the right moment to strike and using her technique to counter stronger attacks.

Her anger at the Fujiwara clan and her bitter view of the world show how deeply her past betrayal affected her. When Yuta questions her reasons for fighting, she reacts with rage because his words remind her of the people who used and discarded her.

For fans waiting to see the Sendai Colony arc in the anime, Uro Takako promises to deliver some of the most visually creative fights in the series. Studio MAPPA will likely bring her sky manipulation to life with striking visuals, especially during the three-way domain expansion scene that many readers consider one of the arc’s highlights.
