Actor Byeon Woo Seok Talks Success, Fan Meeting, and Future Roles at Manila Press Conference
South Korean actor Byeon Woo Seok is basking in the afterglow of his hit drama “Lovely Runner” and gearing up to meet his fans in Manila. On June 21st, ahead of his sold-out “Summer Letter” fan meeting, Byeon Woo Seok spoke to the press, sharing his excitement about his first visit to the Philippines and reflecting on the unexpected success of the show.
“Just the fact that I get to go to different places is really exciting,” he said, expressing his enthusiasm for his ongoing fan meeting tour. He went on to explain how these visits allow him to experience new cultures, something he finds deeply stimulating.
“Lovely Runner,” a fantasy romance drama, marked Byeon Woo Seok’s first lead role, playing the character of Ryu Sun Jae. He revealed a strong connection to the character, “I fell in love with the character because he could relate to him.”
The unexpected success of “Lovely Runner” came as a surprise to Byeon Woo Seok. “I just enjoyed filming it and hoped that the viewers will also enjoy watching the series,” he admitted. He highlighted the collaborative spirit on set, “The crew had the same thoughts as well.”
Still adjusting to his newfound fame, he expressed surprise at the reception he received in Manila. “Doing a press conference is already a dream come true for me,” he said, “My day-to-day happenings are still a big surprise.”
Fans were eager to learn more about Byeon Woo Seok’s creative process. When asked about his favorite scenes from “Lovely Runner,” he highlighted three: his confession of love to Im Sol (played by Kim Hye Yoon), a scene where he struggles to express his pain to his father, and the emotional moment where Sun Jae tells Sol, “It’s okay if I die as long as you like me.”
Building chemistry with co-stars is essential for any successful on-screen relationship. Byeon Woo Seok emphasized the importance of shared passion, “Our love for the drama makes us connect. I don’t have a personal approach, it’s just coming from hard work and love for what we do,” he explained, acknowledging the positive influence of working with talented actresses.
For fans looking to explore more of Byeon Woo Seok’s work, he recommended the dramas “Strong Girl Nam Soon” and “20th Century Girl,” while admitting, “Everything is so precious, so I can’t pick just one.”
Looking towards the future, he expressed his desire to continue exploring the rom-com genre, “There’s no particular role I want to try next, but I would love to do another rom-com.” He also teased an upcoming project to be released in a few months, “I hope you’ll watch out and get excited for my next project.”
The “Summer Letter” fan meeting, presented by PULP Live World, promises to be a memorable event for Byeon Woo Seok and his Filipino fans. The actor expressed his heartfelt gratitude, “I hope that the fans who will come to see me and have spent their time, money, and effort will go home with memories.
