Yash is making his return to the big screen after four years, and the scale of his upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is already creating waves across the entertainment industry. The gangster drama, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, is gearing up for what is being called one of the biggest global theatrical releases for an Indian film. Reports indicate that the movie is expected to open across nearly 12,000 screens worldwide, a number that places it among the most wide-spread Indian film releases in history. Advance bookings are set to begin on August 21, giving audiences a five-day window to secure their seats before the film arrives in cinemas on August 26.
Toxic Set for Record-Breaking Theatrical Rollout Across the Globe
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26, 2026. The film is expected to launch across approximately 12,000 screens globally. While the final screen count has not been officially confirmed, the projected number highlights the massive scale of the film’s release strategy.
This release would mark the biggest theatrical rollout of Yash’s career. The film is backed by Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s own production house, Monster Mind Creations.
The advance booking window opens on August 21, coinciding with the Varamahalakshmi festival. KVN Productions announced the booking date with a post that read: “8 days to step into the world of #ToxicTheMovie. Nationwide Bookings open from 21st August! #TOXIC: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups In Cinemas Worldwide from 26.08.2026”.
Film Receives A Certificate and Reveals 3-Hour Runtime
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Toxic with an ‘A’ (Adult) certificate. The Kannada version of the film was certified on August 13, 2026, by the CBFC’s Bengaluru regional office.
According to the censor certificate, the film’s runtime is 194 minutes and 12 seconds, which translates to 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds. The certified version is in Kannada, and there has been no official confirmation from the makers regarding these details yet.
Yash Warns Parents: Toxic Is Not for Children
With the ‘A’ certificate in place, Yash has made it clear that Toxic is not meant for young audiences. During a recent appearance on the news show Aap Ki Adalat, the actor urged parents to keep children away from the film.
“Children should not watch this film. They should stay at home. It has not been made for children, and that is very clear,” Yash said.
He further explained that the film is designed for mature viewers. “Adults know what is right and wrong. They can choose what they want to see, what they want to learn from the film, and what they don’t want to do in life. But the film is very genuine and has a deep story,” he added.
The actor also addressed the film’s tagline during the conversation. “Regardless, we ensured one thing: along with the title, we also gave the tagline that Toxic is a ‘fairytale for grown-ups.’ We have made it very clear that the film is not for children or adults with a child’s mindset,” Yash stated.
Yash Dismisses Shelving Rumors at Trailer Launch
At the film’s trailer launch event in Bengaluru on August 8, Yash addressed repeated rumors that Toxic had been shelved. He called such speculation a common occurrence for big-budget films.
“Nowadays, I see this a lot. Every time a big film starts, there’ll be news of it being shelved on the 10th day or 20th day! I don’t know from where they write these stories. It’s not easy for producers or actors or directors. First of all, making a film is like going to war against the whole world!” Yash said.
The actor revealed that the team spent 200 days shooting the film and filmed two versions with the ensemble cast. He praised producer Venkat K Narayana for standing by the project despite the speculation. “Yet, my partner and producer has never questioned us. We have shot for 200 days. We started on August 8 two years ago. We have shot two versions with all these talented and lovely actors,” Yash said.
He concluded by saying, “You can see that every money we have spent can be seen on screen”.
